For those who are interested, a few of us are thinking of starting another league. It wouldn't need to replace this one--should it ever get revived.
It would have a similar basic idea--blending playing games with simulations in order to get through as many seasons as possible. Unlike this league, though, it would spread the simulated games throughout the season--basically, every third window would be simulated. This will, I think, keep more people engaged (and in playoff contention) through more of the season. The idea would be to play two "playable" windows a week, plus the simulated games.
We've got about 12 active players committed. If anyone is interested, send me a P.M.
For those interested, Hockey's Future Hockey League (HFHL), previously moribund, is being revived. We're at about the three-quarter mark of season 1, and after a bit of a lull, the commissioner and a few of the active players are sorting through the league and cleaning house.
As a result, there are and will soon be a bunch of openings available, including teams both in playoff positions.
The league advances twice a week (Sundays and Wednesday), and is set to Superstar.
At the end of season 1, we're going to step back and re-evaluate--perhaps shifting to a play/sim hybrid, or sticking with the current schedule. In either case, the goal is to (re)build the league into the most active one on HF, so if any of you are looking to get back in, this might be a good opportunity.
At present, the vacancies are only the bottom-feeding teams, but there should be more openings after the activity check. You needn't sign up for a particular team--just leave your GT if you're interested.
