Zach Boychuk to Calgary

Calgary need more centre depth and boychuk could be a valuable asset, carolina have a surplus of centers who can replace him or even beat him out.
what would it take for the flames to get him ?

Flames need RW prospects just as bad as C prospects, maybe more so, right now.

No we don't. Centers can make the transition to the wing much easier than a winger can make the transition to center.

"maybe more so"

Good grief, no. We need prospects at every position - but this organization NEEDS to prioritize prospects at the center ice position whenever they can.

Fine we need quality C prospects, Boychuk's undersized and I just don't see him being much of an upgrade on what we have

He was waived about a month ago. Obviously there was an agreement not to claim anyone but still...

He's from Airdrie to

Ya, I think we'd do it for Greg Nemisz. Fresh start might be good for Zach to.

i dont really have any interest in him... i think reinhart will be better, then we got horak, and janko in the system

im not saying we dont need more center prospects im just saying i'd rather hold onto nemisz who can play center if we need him too

we need to build through the draft not through trades

Boychuk is a LWer now. Has barely played center in his pro career.

Outside of Nemisz or Byron I wouldn't give up much for him as it stands now we have Nemisz, Byron, Backlund, Horak, Reinhart, and Jankowski (In a few years obviously) all as young centerman unless we move one we wouldn't be able to play them all (we can't as it is).

Actually Nemisz plays C as well and did a good job as a checking center playing alongside Bartschi.

I don't know much about Boychuk. Is he physical, defensive? Or is he in that zone where he's not skilled enough for the top-6 and yet, not physical/gritty enough for a bottom-six role. If it's the latter, we have guys like Backlund, Horak, and possibly Reinhart that would make Boychuk redundant.

Calgary does have enough centers. Just not any that belong on the top 2 lines.
Boychuk doesn't belong in the top 6 either.

The best I would offer is Paul Byron (both guys cleared waivers just prior to the lockout) or a cap dump like Babchuk.

I wouldn't trade Nemisz for him though. Love his size and ability to play both C and RW.

Pro tip: you don't want Boychuk.
