Finally scored a Galaxy Note II. So nice to be back in the Android ecosystem. Battery life is redonkolous.

The glass was just criticized for being fragile but not totally related to the case.

I don't know that's how I felt.

I really am jealous. I hope the price goes down to at least 199 for Verizon when I can upgrade in February.

Sure it was. People were pissed about the cases to simply protect the damn glass.

Regardless, turnabout is fair play.

For sure. I'm not quite sure why they went with glass to be honest.
I'd take a nice solid matte polycarbonate or brushed aluminum over glass.

Still loving this phone.

The glass they used takes wear and tear very well. It's been 3 days and the phone typically sits in my pocket occasionally with other things (change, flip key) ans still the glass looks mint.

Looked into this LTE business. Very neat, since I use wind LTE is not possible, but still very cool to know the option is there.

$300 really is a bit too much for any 16gb phone on contract.

At least by February they'll be in stock and not so much in demand. I found the last one at an out-of-the-way electronics store. Actually thought they were kidding when they said they had one grey Note II left.

It's a fantastic phone, especially considering my last Android was a pos Galaxy S 1. The platform has improved enormously since then.

Go with the Nexus 10?

I'm a huge Nexus Fanboy so my opinion has some serious preference, however it's still a great product.

The Transformer has 32GB of internal storage (vs 16GB in the Galaxy), a quad-core 1.2GHz processor (vs dual-core 1.0GHz in the Galaxy), an 8MP rear camera (vs 3MP in the Galaxy) and Android 4.1 (vs Android 4.0 in the Galaxy). That's a number of little things that justifiably make up a $100 difference. Just the doubling of internal storage typically makes a device cost $50 more, so that's half of the difference right there.

If you're looking for advice on whether to get either one, both are kind of old models and those prices are regular prices, not deals. If you're OK with an older model, you may want to wait for a deal, such as on Monday (Cyber Monday). You may even find that, on Monday or closer to Christmas, one of the current models will be on sale for what you might be paying today for an older model, which could lead to buyer's remorse.

EDIT: BTW, just in case you haven't noticed, the Transformer being sold there is white, despite the picture shown. They have a few other colors, but no grey/black, so that may impact your decision.

what are some new 10" models from these brands (or better brands) up to around 400 bucks, 16GB would be fine too if it has an SD slot

Well, you can't really get a top-of-the-line 10" tablet for under $400 without making concessions, which is why I suggested that you may need a good sale to find one near that price. The Nexus 10 is $399, but doesn't support SD cards. The Galaxy Note 10.1 supports SD cards, but is closer to $500 before sale. The Transformer Infinity is the same, I believe.

I really hope the judge just goes, "**** it!" and makes them kiss and sign a deal. It's a waste of ****ing time, effort and money.

Fiddling around with my new Samsung Galaxy tablet...does anyone know of a good note-taking (for lectures) app that allows me to type, annotate and hightlight?

Touch screen on my HTC Desire Z finally gave out.

Went and bought a Note 2 outright today... pricey but neat so far. Need to get my sim switched over to the micro-sim at some point as my cut old sim wont run LTE.

Edit: Wow being able to tab the video player and have a movie on part of the screen using the phone i with the other part is slick.

re: Random reboot issue

Hasn't this been a problem on Android devices for ages? I had random reboot issues with both of my old Android phones: the Eris and the Photon.

Was quite annoying then and I'm surprised that there are still some issues in the Android world regarding this.

Wow. Guess I'll stick to 4.1.1 for a very very long time. It's rock solid.
