New Orleans gives up the 2nd most yards per game in passing, only have 7 picks on the year and are middle of the pack when it comes to sacks. How is it a shock that they'll stick with their obviously more than capable backup after what he did on arguably the most dominant defense in the league? Any time extra you can give a QB after a concussion is a good call.
I'm sure Smith is still busy trying to run for 20 minutes without getting dizzy and throwing up to give two *****, he's probably elated he has another week to recoup

If anything I'd say the opposite, Smith already fears being Wally Pipp'ed. Wouldn't shock me if that's why he was trying to hide his concussion in the first place, he knew he might not get his job back if he lost it.
If Kaepernick consistently plays like he did this week, there's no reason Smith should be starting.
Kaepernick will create offense. Smith will manage offense.
Never liked Smith from the day he was taken first overall, and babying his way to a contract after ONE decent year after several years of being a bust just rubbed me the wrong way. Really he should be paying the 49ers back for the money they wasted on his first 6+ years.
He did, he restructured both of his first two contracts to take less money in the final 2 yrs of each deal because of his struggles.
When your #1 is cleared to go and ready ,, They aren't benched no matter how well a backup played in 1 game
To bench your #1 is a clear message that he is not your guy
i think that its clear that Smith was never Harbaugh's "guy", the fact that he drafted Kaepernick and so publicly pursued Peyton Manning are clear indicators. Smith looks like a good guy, and i really respect him, but the coaching staff have very clearly been looking elsewhere for a while.
EDIT: not sure about my tone here, but i agree with you

So publicly ? It wasn't even known that the 9ers were in the mix until 4 days before Peyton picked the Broncos. When Harbaugh went to see him he watched from his car in the parking lot.

oh geez, maybe it was because of how much i was on NFL.com at the time, im a sucker for those videos so i guess i thought it was very public news
More or less than you enjoyed the first half of the 2010-2011 NHL season?
lol at least when an NFL season goes to **** you only have to endure, or ignore five or six games at most usually, with the Devils that year they were staring down the barrel of fifty such games until the miracle second half. And I was going to games so it was harder to mentally check out.
But yeah, if you want Tanny, Rex AND Sanchez out (and after tonight I want all three gone, previously it was just Tanny and Sanchez), this game was for you.
This game is beyond pathetic! I watched the first half, and a bit of the 3rd at my buddies house, and came home. I did predict they would score a safety, but they got the field goal first. I came home to check the box score, and they scored a safety on my ride home! And a touchdown apparently too to go with that field goal, and safety! A trifecta!
I really only watch the NFL casually, but for people who brought up the 10/11 Devils seasons. Is this game the Jets Montreal game when Moose was pulled early after 2 goals in less than 2 minutes for Mike Mckenna, and we couldn't score on that full 5 on 3 of 2 minute attack time? Or maybe the Boulton hat trick against the Thrashers?
The Montreal game got out of hand even faster than tonight's did, amazingly enough lol.
I'd compare it more to the Buffalo game where they just got smoked with a barrage early and poor Moose got booed out of the building lol. Although we didn't have any star player contreversially getting scratched before this game, hell the Jets don't have any star players LEFT. Cromartie's the closest thing to one I suppose but he's not really.
