Another Albany PP for goaltender inteference. This PP is really bad. It was like 7 percent or maybe even 5 coming into tonight? Already 0 for 2 tonight. At least if Oates or Maclean were running it we could have 16 percent or something! Then again ours was like 28th in the league when we were giving up shorties every other game.
Providence ties it on the PP. At least the NHL Devils had a perfect PK when their PP sucked. These guys have a POS PK, and one of the most dreadful PP's I've ever seen. Probably the worst. And they're about to get PP number 4 for the game.
Probably cause of the tight schedule. He will probably be back in tomorrow I'm sure. They're rotating guys in, and out. Butler should be OUT tomorrow, and Monday.
Albany loses in a shootout. Anderson the only goal in the shootout for Albany. Henrique, Josefson, and Whitney all stopped. I forget who else went for the Devils. Oh yeah choke artist Butler.
This Devils team is pathetic offensively. Couldn't score more than one goal on a team that's given up more goals than they have. 0 for the last 20+ on the PP, including 0 for 5 tonight I think it was. 2 goals in 4 games. This team is really bad. Kinkaid got them this point, just as Frazee got them the last loser shootout point.
Kinkaid kept them in. Butler has been abysmal. Still like the acquisition, but he's sucked so bad. He ripped up the AHL a couple years ago as did Henrique. Henrique did score Albany's only goal, and 2nd in 4 games. Tedenby should not be sitting for Butler. Henrique has been stopped in both shootouts too, but did score on that penalty shot a few games back. Probably the last time Albany won a damn game.
Kowalski's gotta go. Whoever runs the PP really needs to go. The PP is like 3 percent on the year, and 0 for the last 20 on the PP. Get Pete down there to coach.
Yeah I would hope so, because there are quite a few more guys who deserve to sit before him. He's still scored one of two of Albany's only goals in the last four games. If he's worked on his shootout skills maybe, just maybe he could have put one in tonight. If the season starts today he gets a spot over Butler for sure. Butler has already been sat one game, though maybe he had something undisclosed that kept him out too?
Hoeffel, and Anderson, and maybe even Pesonen would make it before Butler just going by these first 9 games. Butler has been a real disappointment so far, but a two way for league minimum. No big deal. He was ripping up the AHL in Binghamton. I'd expect more than one point in 8 games.
Just got back from the Albany game tonight in Providence. As most of you know, they lost 2-1 in a SO. Here are my thoughts on the game:
Keith Kinkaid was sensational finishing up with 37 saves on 38 shots. He really knows how to use his large frame to his advantage and made a few highlight real saves where he stretched for every inch. If he plays with any consistency, he has a shot
Adam Henrique was buzzing around and was even rewarded with a goal. He and Whitney had a nice give and go which Henrique finished off. I know his stats dont look great, but he still looks fine
Larsson was solid. He is clearly too good for the AHL, but he didnt take too many risks offensively. He did have a few nice stretch passes and did have a notable rush where he beat two forecheckers and set up Zajac in the zone, who bobbled the puck. It also appears that he is working on his explosiveness. During warmups, he would be gliding, then suddenly accelerate to top speed (this happened several times and I didnt notice anyone else doing this)
Alex Urbom was very steady for his first game back. Good size and knows how to use it. He even won a fight.
Powerplay- This looked like an Adam Oates run pp, pre Zidlicky and Foster. Yes folks, it was THAT bad. They couldn't gain the zone and when they did, guys would just fumble the puck. I thought it was interesting that they used Butler on the point. I wish they'd use him as a rover a la Malkin, but of course, he isnt Malkin and Albany just doesnt have the passers
Offense- Even though they officially had 27 shots, I think about three of them were memorable. Kowalsky shuffled up the lines with a top 6 of Whitney-Henrique-Anderson and Pesonen-Josefson-Butler. Unfortunately, it didnt help. Their use of the cycle was especially poor and the Dmen didnt exactly help when given the chance
Jesus, Jay Leach is downright awful. This guy makes Adam Larsson look like Mike Gartner speedwise. He's also always out of position, and cant keep a puck in the zone to save his life.
All in all it was a good time and I was apparently sitting in the same row of Bobby Butler's dad.
yeah jay leach is horrible maybe albany needs a new coach
With all the NHL talent they have and being in the basement, and not being able to score more than 2 goals in 4 games something has to be done. You can say guys like Henrique are dogging it cause they know they have a spot. A guy like Butler however does not. This team is fairly good defensively or at least goaltending wise every other game, and just bad defensively the other game. They are also allergic to scoring every other game, and the other just one goal. They also cannot win a shootout to save their lives either. In 9 games I think there's been 4 games with only a goal, and shutout twice.
They got Adirondack tonight. Shut out by them last game, but the last time they scored more than one goal in a game was against them too.
