jussi, do you have any thoughts on Teuvo's play at WJC? the only games i was able to watch were the ones on tsn (i didn't watch other feeds)...so didn't see teuvo at all except in the pre-games.

Same.

I remember going into that draft reading a non-Blackhawks scout somewhere saying that Simpson was the best technical goalie in the draft after Pickard.

Look how far that got him.

Unmotivated? Because he doesn't get dirty? The guy was a huge part of their comeback win against the Swiss to keep their medal hopes alive, with 2 goals.

Not Jussi but he was playing in third line to start.

Maybe those guys had too high expectations. He was one of the best Finnish players for the tournament. Didn't shine at the first few games but picked it off then. The whole team underachieved anyway.

The Kenny ryan highlight reel goal scored when he undressed Leddy in going by him as Leddy feebly waived a miserable "attempt" to stop him made the Top Ten Highlights of the week spot on TSN 's Sportscenter show..oh the shame of it!

We want defensive COMPETENCY -why can't our d-men learn to take out some rushers with hits or at least impede their progress--this was just an awful example of Stan's love for PMD's who have no clue how to defend properly---ugh!!

I know this thread is supposed to be about prospects, but there is a competition going on for the Icehogs fans for the 2 millionth fan (expected to happen Friday, January 11th. I bolded the prizes below. I'd love the season tickets the next 2 years, especially since I live in Rockford!

http://icehogs.com/news/icehogs/?article_id=3628

Quote:
Rockford, Ill. – The month of December at the BMO Harris Bank Center saw a record amount of fans take in a Rockford IceHogs game and the team looks to expand on that success by welcoming the two millionth fan in franchise history to pass through the doors in January.

Through 17 games this season, the IceHogs have drawn 74,298 fans to downtown Rockford for an American Hockey League game. By comparison, after 17 contests last season (66,221), the IceHogs have seen an increase in attendance by 12.2%. The IceHogs finished the month of December with an average of 5,007 fans in the stands.

Overall the Hogs have seen 1,995,842 patrons pass through the gates in the club’s 14 year history to this point, just shy of the two million milestone by 4,158 before their next home game on Wednesday, Jan. 9. The two millionth mark is expected to be reached on Friday, Jan. 11 when the IceHogs host the Grand Rapids Griffins for a 7:05 p.m. start at the BMO Harris Bank Center.

To commemorate the historic occasion, the two millionth fan through the turnstiles at the BMO Harris Bank Center will win the Ultimate IceHogs Package, including season tickets for two seasons along with a personalized parking spot across from the BMO. The fan to hit the special mark will be greeted by IceHogs team personnel and honored during the first timeout in the second period and will receive a prize package including:

• IceHogs season tickets for the remainder of the regular season, along with the next two seasons
• Post game opportunity to meet the team and get autographs following Friday’s game
• A personalized parking space across from the BMO Harris Bank Center for two years
• A number two IceHogs jersey with a special nameplate
• A pair of Blackhawks tickets to a select game in 2012-13 and 2013-14

Since the IceHogs introduced professional hockey to the Rock River Valley in 1999, the team has been growing in popularity at a rapid rate. The IceHogs finished their inaugural season in 1999-00 with 143,195 fans coming out to watch a game, compared to 161,286 during the 2011-12 season, the franchise’s second-best.

For more information about the IceHogs or for tickets, visit IceHogs.com. Tickets can also be purchased by calling (815) 968-5222 or in person at the BMO Bank Center Box Office and any Ticketmaster Outlet.

Next Home Game: Wednesday, Jan. 9 vs. Grand Rapids Griffins. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The IceHogs return home to face the Griffins for the first time in 2012-13 at the BMO Harris Bank Center on a WXRX Dollar Day. The game is the fifth of eight on the campaign overall.

What luck. Going to game tomorrow, bought the tickets like 5 months ago before the lockout and now they finally settle so I won't see many of the guys I want. And it looks like I miss out on chance for 2 millionth fan.

Oh well, still glad to see the others and hopefully Terry Broadhurst gets in the game since he just got called up.

Leddy at 21 is better than Keith at 21. That's a fact.

Also, it is not unusual for defensemen to find it HARDER to play at the AHL level than the NHL level. A big reason why is that in the NHL, everyone is generally where they should be from a defensive positioning standpoint. This makes a huge difference when you are trying to run a breakout at top speed. In the AHL ... not so much.

Teräväinen played with Kiekko-Vantaa on the 4th line with two other Jokerit players, lines was TT- Salminen - Hännikäinen (all were at WJC). He had one assist, two shots on goal was a -1 and 16:14 of ice time in a 2-5 loss. Jokerit play on Friday, their only game left this week, he'll most likely be back with them then.

Mark McNeill had a goal and an assist as PA destroyed Regina 9-4. Travis Brown had an assist as MJ was downed by Calgary 6-4.

How's he been looking? Not so concerned with stats (I can read those) but I obviously never get to see him play, so I'm curious how he's looked of late. Know the report on him was good the first part of the season.

I've only seen him once this season, so can't really speak to how he's been playing.

Carruth's stats in Portland this year are just ridiculous. 19-2-0, 1.68/.940 and 4 SO thus far. Those numbers are like Jonathan Quick in last year's playoffs. If this isn't some kind of fluke I think the Hawks have a clear contender for #1 G in the very near future. Can't believe he was a 7th round pick.

I was hoping that Whitney's numbers would improve this year but they're pretty much unchanged. Not terribly impressed with Simpson so far but we'll see.

I wouldn't throw a parade just yet for Carruth. He is playing behind an incredible defense and will be 21 years old in just 2 months.

He is playing out of his mind for sure and it is great to see, but I don't think you can take that much from it. He will need to continue to excel at the AHL or ECHL level to really make his mark on me. I just can't buy in all the way yet because of the factors I mentioned. Really he should be on Toledo right now though.

Kevin Hayes 1 goal, 1 assist tonight...both at even strength BTW.

Now on the season he has 18 games, 6 goals, 12 assists, 18 points. Not bad considering he only has Arnold, unlike the 1st line with 3 great players.

Brandon Saad has a goal and 2 assists tonight. Jeremy Morin and Jimmy Hayes each have a goal, Brandon Pirri has 2 assists and Ben Smith has an assist and a fight.

Make that 4 points for Saad (1+3), two goals for Hayes and now 2 assists for Dylan Olsen.

Just got home from the game (aka the Brandon Saad show) tonight. Great win. It was my first Hogs game and it kind of made me realize how much I missed hockey.

Saad really wants to get called up. By all accounts, he had a great game the other night but came away pointless, now puts up 4 points tonight. Still stand by what I said in the summer: Saad can be a top-9 contributer with Chicago this year.

Do you think he's better off in the top six or adding a little more offense to Bolland's line?

so far, good to get Carruth in the 7th.

Need to see what he can do on a team that isn't the best in his league and with worse worse D playing against men
