We need to develop that kind of player.

We had a guy like Alexandre Mallet in our backyard in rimouski. That kid is good offensively and he's just a beast in physicality. Just watch his first pro fight with that big hit:

And there's a guy like Stefan Matteau Jr. We could have drafted that kid last summer. I was hoping for it. He's that kind of guy that we need. He has 11 pts in 13 games with 31 PIMS.

I just can't wait anymore until we draft a forward like that. Every team has at least one of those guy in their system.

End rant.
I was a big fan of Mallet(go back and look at the 2012 draft threads) and would have been ok with him at #51 or #64 but he is 2 years older than most 2012 picks and it remains to be seen what his NHL upside is. He is physical and can fight but will his offense translate to the NHL or will he just be a Prust or Moen type? It remains to be seen if he ends up better than Throwerm who brings a lot of the same qualities but is 1 1/2 years younger. Bozon was taken later and looks like a great pick so far.

Matteau I wouldn't take him ahead of any of our first 4 picks, and he isn't exactly tearing up the Q at 18. To me he projects as a 3rd liner with some jam, not something I'd want to use a 1st rounder(or early 2nd if he was there) on.

Random question but why is Siemens no longer captain, or any letter, in favour of Walker, who wasn't even on the team last season. Deitz was the only player to retain his letter.

Coach decided to go in a different direction in regards to the captain. Last year wasn't a great one with bad chemistry in the room and guys not necessarily getting along. Siemens ended up taking the fall for it.

Through camp and exhibition it was apparent that a guy like Walker was a leader on the team so he was chosen.

He was also left with the decision to pick his own 'A's. Siemens was left out.

Only 15 ? What a bust. Worst. Draft. Ever.

No NHL, but at least our prospects are really exciting. Magnus Nygren seems to be doing well in the SEL.

Vail is putting up big numbers for a guy who is already that good defensively.

He's been a nice surprise so far, his PPGM is up from 0.76 to 1.25. Will be hard not to take him on Team USA for the WJHC, though playing CHL will hurt his chances as they are very "political" in taking NCAA/USHL guys.

From what I hear from my Saskatoon Blades guy, coaching incompetence is the real problem there. That he consistently can't get along with his players and can't handle a skilled game rather than relying on toughness to solve everything. This would be the reason the Blades' PP is never good, even when Mike Green was playing for them.

Of course this is just hearsay and conjecture, take from it what you will. But it does explain what's been happening with the Blades

still the badest point producers on his line

Habs will be happy because he learns how to win but probably Timmins will say "now he has to learn how to be the leader..."

That said, great begining for him and im happy that he's good enough to stay on the 1st with best team of the CHL

Send a message via MSN to Rise from the Ashes
Bozon was chosen as a sniper, not as an overall point producer. His teammates do not nearly have as many points without him taking effective shots or finishing off their plays. He is just as important if not more than the other two guys.

This kind of puts Renegade Stylings in an awkward position due to his relationship with the team. He can only respond to this with a very PC response......

It's ironic how the Blazers are playing so well because Guy Charron is the coach and in his 16plus seasons playing in nhl never made the playoffs and his coaching in nhl was not much better

I always stunned by those brillant reports of people saying that Bozon isn't the catalyst of his line, just the sniper.....Well guess what...that's why he was chosen, and that's what people are expecting of him. Now, if Lipon and Smith are good "catalysts" on his team, chances are he'll find some more in higher levels. Him making it or not has nothing to do with how catalyst he is....but how productive he will be since it's tougher on the way up.

Seeing prospects do well at junior level is great and everything, but it doesn't mean much about how good they're gonna be as pros.

Sure it does. Why would you bother scouting if it didn't?

Don't bother with that poster, his main mission is to constantly be negative about our prospects and bash the hype around them.

Vail adds an assist and was +3.
