So I'll break down my thoughts since I play every MMO.
The gameplay is terrible especially the "ground" combat when you aren't in a ship. The ship combat isn't terrible but its nothing to write home about I doubt it could ever satiate your need for epic space battles, for that I would look to Eve.
In all honesty its F2P now and you should just try it, but it has a very clunky and non-intuitive system.
So if you're a huge Trekkie obviously you should try it out but from a neutral position its just a horrible game. Everything past the tutorial is convoluted and misleading.
Try it out though.
