The American Hockey League announced today that Norfolk Admirals left wing Rene Bourque has been named the Reebok AHL Rookie of the Month for January. In 10 games, Bourque tallied seven goals and five assists for 12 points along with a plus-8 rating for the Admirals, who went 8-1-0-1.
I'm wondering why Rene Bourque isn't in the top 20 prospects for the Blackhawks. He was in the AHL all star game and even won the hardest shot competition. Anyone have any idea why he isn't held in high regard? I personally don't know much about him, but am wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this.
He went undrafted and was signed to a minor league deal after he showed flashes of skill at Ads training camp a couple months back. He really has come a long way in a short while, I think he is in the top 5 of Hawks forward prospects all of a sudden.
