No shutout but his stats will count up to when he left.

The AHL site updates in real-time.

He was covering the puck in the crease then like 3 guys jumped on top of him.

They crashed him a few times. And then when he got up after being in the bottom of the pile , he snapped.

It was pretty obvious what Syracuse was trying to do. Bunch of fights earlier in the period then they just happen to crash the crease like that.

100% justified imo.

i think the book on him until he gets it under control is going to be to jaw him and tap him and bump him at every opportunity. the kid has got to get a lid on it or teams are going to be able to take advantage of it and get him off his game, or downright OUT of games. he's got to get a handle on that.

I like it. All the best goalies are a little off. You kind of need to be to willingly stand in front of a frozen puck coming at you at 90+ mph.

Guys like Belfour and Hextall were known for chopping guys legs if they got too close to the crease, and of course Hextall was practically an enforcer in his day.

if you read what his relationship with his dad was like, you can maybe see where it comes from. his dad pushed him, HARD. to the point where neighbours called child services at least once. he used to crank up the shot machine to top speed on the kid until he was bruised and crying.

Never ever turn down a goalie fight. Opportunity comes only so often and is a spectacle when it happens.

I think somewhat justified is okay here.

He may have just used up his one fight for the year though.

I am so proud that I was the first person in Ottawa to buy a heritage Lehner jersey last year.

It'd be a joke if he hasn't been a complete stud IN the crease so far this season.

And I agree, some of the greats have been exactly the way he is. As long as he's stopping the puck I don't really care if he wants to be himself.

but if he turns into the valuable goalie we think he might be, he cant do this. the islanders did it to him last year too. there are so many expert pests in the NHL they will be able to get to him with ease. if he starts taking stupid penalties, or getting out of control, or getting tossed, he will cost us games.

i LOVE the intensity. belfour and hasek had the same kind. they werent the physical specimen that lehner is so they didnt flat out go after guys like lehner seems to do, but they both had to learn to tone it down before they got really good. he has got to stop doing this. it makes it far too easy to take a key player off or out of a game.

Cole Schneider has had good game for his professional debut. He is getting a good opportunity playing with Zibby and Silfverberg on the pp.

Lehner's fight was justified. Plus, Helenius came at him. If it was a tight game late in the year I'd be less accepting but this type of thing will send a clear message that he's not to be ****ed with. Goalie's who can create space for themselves are very valuable.

Hasek tore Jim Kelly's (the reporter) shirt off after a game. I don't have any problem with Lehner defending himself.

in a 5-0 game, you can't let the opposing players take liberties like that. If ever there was a time to pick his spot...this was it. Guys WILL remember that bumping Lehner will come along with a knuckle sandwich, and guys will definitely think twice before doing it again.

It's not a 1-1 playoff game here. It's a 5-0 beatdown.
