I can't get excited again because last time that happened my soul was crushed.

Trying to remain neutral on it now.

Yep, same here. Hopefully Granlund will be ready by the time they start the season (assuming they get a deal in place of course). Don't think Brodin would be on the roster even if he was healthy. I would guess that he'd be playing down in Houston until an injury or two occurred.

Sounds like me during this year's free agency.

We don't want to know what's going on until it's all done. The more that comes out in the media, the more inclined Fehr is to let his ego and legacy take precedence instead of the actual future of the league and livelihood of the players. As long as nothing is out there, he can't get up on his brainwashing soapbox to tell us how the league is a bunch of evil rich people while the players are poor repressed [coughmillionairecough] slaves.

Appears as if initial reads off yesterdays meeting-mine included-were off. Little, if anything, achieved. PA holding firm on contract issues

You know, I'll take that, so long as Fehr isn't publicly posturing and cutting short the negotiations. Sadly, that is progress.

Agreed. Progress is progress, even if it's slower than a roadkill snail.

true, but i guess i was thinking that if you meet for so long in the day more would be hammered out instead of it being minimal.

Well we don't know for sure what was or wasn't hammered out. Maybe they needed to actually discuss things for once rather than just offer proposals and leave. Maybe they fundamentally agree on 50/50 plus make whole and need to talk about non-core issues. Maybe they flipped each other the bird and played on their phones the whole time to screw with the media. We have no idea.

I can't help but think that they were finally able to actually reason their proposals. While it's said that the progress was "minimal", it would also mean that they will actually think about it now. And maybe, just maybe, we'll be able to see NHL this year.

I have a gut feeling that they've signed the papers by the end of next week.

If you had said by the end of next week, I'd fully agree.

After all is said and done, my gut is telling me that we will find out that we can actually be proud of our owner... Meaning, that he was the "architect" of the 50/50 offer and the push behind the shift of the make whole being taken out of the owners share...

optimistic: 62 game season starts the day after thanksgiving. that gives the players over in europe enough time to get their ***** back and enough time to run an abbreviated training camp.

pessimistic: D. Fehr nixes all of the progress and there is no season.

I am 50/50 on this one. Seems good so far. I like that the players who show up are more scrubs than stars.

I'm just glad Montador didn't show up for this one.

At least it feels like there's something now. Less PR crap and more talking with each other. Something is better than nothing.

Does anybody think the Fehrs will survive this lockout if there is not a deal this time around? I mean how long before the somewhat educated players say f-it and do a vote? One would think that if there was a vote, they would be gone. What is the % needed? 60%?

I still think a hanging is in order. Not all of them, but we gotta have a scapegoat.

The pundits on Twitter seem to think there will be resolution one way or the other fairly soon. The talks either have to lead to an agreement or hit a wall. I am just hoping the tone of Fehr implies the former.

I wonder if his players told him to cool it and get back in the room.
