still trying to figure out how the players association is down with this. average hockey career is 100 games. locked out season is a big chunk of that. I wonder if the guys who haven't played more than X games get any sort of say in negotiations or if it's by seniority or what?
Fact: Not 1 NHL player would accept immediate pay cut. Demonize Fehr all you want, your perception not reality.
Really? That's a fact? Not 1 player....not a single player? Prove it. I give Darren Dreger a lot of credit for pointing out how silly Walsh's comment was. Dreger's response...
Quote:
That's like saying not 1 owner is willing to honour existing contracts. There are men on both sides ready to end this.
Dreger was making a point (and proving Walsh's foolishness) by tying this back to a previous tweet from Walsh.
Quote:
If Bettman put the NHLPA proposals today before ALL NHL owners for a vote, we would be heading to training camps tomorrow.
Walsh must be pretty busy considering that he talks daily with every player and owner.
And to Derek Roy....oh you poor, suffering NHL baby.

Thanks for bragging about your ride during a time when you guys are crying about not getting paid enough. I'm sure the real victims (club/arena employees, businesses, and the fans) appreciate it.
That interesting development was about the surgery that Toews had today. He had his head removed from his bum. While he made it through the procedure in good form, it's too early to tell if there will be any permanent damage as well as the risk of infections.
Walsh is a ****ing moron, i see that he wants to do good for his clients but you can't lie about **** or make **** up or do a combination of both.
there is a deal to be made here and its quite simple to just say we'll pay what we promised, its really all its going to take
the FA rule i don't like, i think it should be 7 years of service or 26, so if you are a 18 year old and play you would hit FA at 25. i just think having that option is better for the league, how great was july 4th this year? it was pretty awesome for us.
other then that screw the long term back loaded deals, and the Redden clause too needs to be added.
really its just one philosophical difference holding this up.
also any more room for having head removed from ass surgery spots open, Garry and Don could use it.
I have been attempting to learn as much as I can about labor law the last couple of days and I am even more confused now than when I started.
As the saying goes; "The more you know, the more you know that you do not know."
If there were no players union (or association), then the contracts signed by the owners would actually have merit in a court on contractual law. Since those contracts were covered under a collectively agreed upon framework, contract law does not actually apply.
I know way more about contract law than I do labor laws, all things considered.
NHL canceling November games. League doing everything it can to try and ruin itself.
I understand why they are doing it in significant chunks now to basically try to force the players hands. But as you said, it is only going to screw them over more in the long run. I can't imagine NBC is happy about this...let alone all the other sponsors out there.

Check PHT on the NBC site. I am not sure that NBC gives a ****.
Hell, Ed Snider has a say in what NBC thinks. Any time missed this season gets tacked on for free at the end of the TV deal.

NBC Sports has nothing of interest during the weekdays because of it. The money may come back their way, but that is a lot of ad space going unused because no one is watching their 24/7 encore highlights of the Olympics.
