Do we have an official word on Barrie?

Perhaps Lauridsen is brought up to replace Sullivan.

If Barrie is injured (Maybe goleafsgo will have info on that) then this could be a chance for Elliott to step his game up.

That was some weak crap, and that team deserved to get their teeth kicked in. Maybe the next time they visit Cleveland.
That jagoff got 2 games...clearly a fair hit.

Shaw got 6 and Brokebank got 1.

Not bad on the part of the AHL, I must say that's some solid discipline. Hope Barrie gets better soon, we can't afford more prospect injuries due to wreckless people.

Don't you just hate that biased Lake Erie commentator?

Brookbank should have gotten more.

Go to 1:28ish and you will laugh after you see the Black Blackhawks jersey.

Also the Hawks poster was talking about a biased commentator?

Don't really have any info on Barrie, not sure what is going on there.

What I can confirm is that Mitch Heard will be in the lineup tonight, after missing multiple games with an upper-body injury.

If he continues to adjust and Walker ever "catches up", Sgar will be piling on the points.

Houston is not an easy team so it is good they got the win. Tomorrow is a must win and will show if LE channels their inner Avs and plays down to an opponent. We may very well see the Pickard-Campbell match-up finally.

I have been coming back periodically to check on him and I tell you, this kid is going to be an NHL player. I think if there was an NHL camp going on this season, he would have been a hard player to turn away. It's good that he's getting a year in the AHL to tune his talents, but he has the complete package.

Nice to see Niederreiter doing well in the AHL. Hopefully Isles didn't screw him up too much last year, all for a few bonus dollars more.

At least he obviously did not need a lot of time to adjust to the AHL level.
If only Hishon could recover.

A small part of me wanted him to struggle this year and for the Avs to acquire him for cheap. I think he's going to be a ridiculously good player down the road. Not necessarily a "superstar" but a powerforward that will put up goals, and open up a ton of space for his linemates.

I concur.

However, I think the Avs would have left him down in the AHL to fine tune his skills regardless. With our top-9 set for this season, there is no point in bringing him up too early and he still needs this development time amongst the pros.

Yep, especially with Olver having a similar game but already having NHL experience. Now Olver doesn't have Sgar's hands, but they've got a lot else in common.

Our top 9 is set...?

C - Duchene, Stastny, O'Reilly

RW - Parenteau, Jones, Downie

LW - Landeskog, McGinn, ?

Hejduk is not a top 9 forward anymore, or at the very least wouldn't exactly be all that hard for a strong rookie to beat out for a top 9 spot. The last thing our top 9 is, is set...

I do think if one of the rooks showed up big in camp, particularly one of the left handed centers (Sgar, Olver, Malone, Heard) they could secure a spot on the third line at LW. Olver's NHL experience has proven that he has trouble translating his scoring ability to the NHL level, but hes fine on the third line.

Hejduk will 100% start in the top 9, and look for him to have a better season (when there is one) without the weight of the C on his shoulder, then our 4th line with be McCleod-Mitchell-Kobasew with Olver as the 13th fwd

Some of you sure are quick to dismiss a 36 year old, former all-star that has been the model of consistency throughout his tenure with the Avs....for shame.

Let's see...Hejduk had scored 7 Goals + 5 Assists = 12 Points in 17 Games before he was named captain.

A pace of 33 Goals + 24 Assists = 57 Points <- [EXACTLY his average for the past 6 years]

After being named captain, he only put up 7 Goals + 17 Assists = 24 Points in the remaining 64 Games he played.

You can choose to believe that the captaincy had no effect on his game, however, please note that I've been watching hockey for the better part of the last 30 years and I've NEVER seen that kind of drop-off in a player that consistent that wasn't injury related. The drop-off is ALWAYS way more gradual. Even more support to the theory that the captaincy had a major effect on his game is that he gave it up after only 1 season, leaving the team in the hands of a 19 year old. If it didn't bother him, surely he would have kept it for another year?

Please quote me on this, IF and WHEN we do have a season, he's going to look much more like the Hejduk that's been putting up 25-30 goals and 55-60 points than the guy we saw last year.

It's also interesting to note that both Jones and McGinn, who ALSO both finished with 37 points are top-9 forwards based on how they finished the season but Hejduk isn't with his 37 points with how he started the season.

Very rarely can you pinpoint the exact date when a player starts to SUCK but apparently with Hejduk, it's November 14th, 2011.

*Last 6 years average:
73GP 27G 30A 57PTS

*Last 3 years average:
70GP 24G 29A 53PTS

* Not counting last season
