Barrie is so much better than any skater on that team.

I've grown to hate the delay of game penalty. I'd much rather just have it count as icing. No line change, faceoff in the defensive zone.

Tyson Barrie is awesome. I wish this game would end...I want to watch the Bakersfield game.

So I was just combing through the stats page on the AHL website and comparing rookie scoring and I was shocked to see some big name rookie players struggling at the beginning of the season most notably Etem only 4G and 0A through 17 games, Jaden Schwartz only 8pts in 18 games, Zibanejad only 7pts in 16 games, even Drew Shore only 11pts in 16 games is kind of shocking to me.

I guess this just further proof that not all big name prospects are just going to come into the league and tear it up, like so many people on HF think.

What is also nice about looking at the rookie scoring sheet is seeing Sgarbossa right near the top. It just shows that if you know how to score it doesn't matter what size you are or if you were drafted or not, you know how to score. Sgarbossa is quietly having a solid rookie campaign in the AHL, and I think he will turn into a pleasant surprise for us Avs fans.

The trade that brought us Mcginn, Connolly and Sgarbossa for Gali and Winnik will go down as one of our better trades. I see McGinn and Sgarbossa both having success at the NHL level and Connolly has an outside chance of helping out as well.

Apparently there aren't any streams for Monsters-Bulldogs.

4-0 lead after 33 minutes for the Monsters.

Go Aitto! Interesting to see the Monsters light up their former netminder.

Getting outshot badly again. Good thing the goalies are consistently good.

I've noticed a lot of missed passes and a lot of mishandling of the puck when the team plays. This leads to the counter attacking not working as it should and the team has to rely on dumping the puck in. Some of the players are good at the cycle game but it's a hard way to play for some of the smaller guys.

There are a lot of new guys to the team so hopefully the more they play together the more they gel.

Sylvain Lefebvre is the head coach and Bournival is playing. So there are some Avs connections.

A lot of times it can be who they play with at the AHL level. How many big name prospects are playing with talent like OKC puts out? Hard to put up huge numbers if you have only so so talent to work with. Then again there are times when players take time to adjust and do fine later in the season. Then there are some where a players approach to the game in juniors just won't translate well to the pro game. Take Etem, will he adjust or just try to get by on his speed and stay to the outside? How much can they create on their own? Too early to tell but most take at least the early part of the season to adjust.

Anyone who has been watching the team... I'm really curious how Paul Carey has looked now that the season has gone along further.

Still adjusting. Offensively about what is to be expected. He's not been seeing a lot of time with the skilled guys so his game has been about speed and looking for the garbage but he is one of the few who will actually carry the puck in. With his speed, that causes chances but like Landeskog early last season...he needs to avoid shooting from everywhere. He should mimic Malone's points and any increase will come from more PP time or if paired with one of the skilled centers. Like the rest of the team, he's had his spots of concern but has also shown flashes of his offensive skills. He's not going to put on a stick handling clinic when coming into the zone but he has been very good at coming off the boards and turning an opponent inside out for a shot.

Thanks! I'd actually prefer he keep up the high shooting numbers tbh. It creates a lot of opportunities for other players when done properly.

Do you see a NHL upside game when he's playing to his abilities? I was always intrigued to see if he could make it as a 3rd/4th line winger in the NHL or if he doesn't rough up the opposition enough to be a grinder/energy guy.

Is it just me or are all teams but the Monsters improving? Could be frustration speaking but I do think the Monsters were better in comparism earlier in the season. And they played some very good teams back then.

Three posts for Monsters. It's one of those days, I guess.

Defense is a bit passive and Aittokallio's rebounds aren't the best.

I agree very much. And this has been the case often lately imo.

Terrible period. It's this bodyless hockey again. I don't know why they are doing it, especially in their own zone. They're letting their opponents doing what they want. There's so much room for the opponent forwards. I guess, it's coaching because it has happenend quite often in the last two or three weeks.

Monsters are playing much better now. Defensive plays more agressively, too. Still a bit too much space for my liking but defenders are starting to hit people now. Pickard is looking good but he hasn't had much to do yet.
