Not just one of the best remaining, but one of the best in the draft. He was my #1 center coming into this thing.

The St.John's Monsters select Left Winger, Mike Cammaleri

With 2 80 point seasons Cammaleri should add a lot of offense to my lineup.

Next has been pmed.

We pick a solid defenseman who sadly had bit of a tainted end to his career.

Great hitter and pretty solid all-around logging heavy minutes on special team and EV. Led Canes 2002 teams in minutes and won a cup with the habs.

Edit: Sean Hill, D

To anchor the second line, the Macon Whoopee select the versatile Tim Young, C.

Also, I noticed that my team name is "AK Bars Kazan" in the OP... which is ok too, but it seems worth mentioning

Just want to reiterate, AK Bars Kazan seems to have been assigned to my team out of nowhere...

Well...I'm sorry for the delay, I've spent the last few hours just trying to figure out where I am here...I am just at a complete loss on who to pick...my "potentials" list is deeper than it ever has been (including my first time batting in the MLD), but I don't have a clue here, so it's probably gonna show...

I'll take C Jimmy Carson

1989 All-Star
1987 All-Rookie Team (3rd for Calder)
Lady Byng: 4th, 5th, 12th* (* - single vote)
7th in All-Star center voting (single vote)* vs. Lemieux, Gretzky, Yzerman - * (received a 2nd place vote at RW also, maybe a voter just couldn't vote him over Lemieux (near-unaminous choice that year for 1st) or Gretzky (near-unaminous choice for 2nd) and threw him a bone?
2x Top-10 goals
2x Top-10 points
Traded for Gretzky and then Coffey...that doesn't count for anything? Oh ok, sorry...
5x 30-goal scorer, 2x, 40-goal scorer, 1x 50-goal scorer (49 and 55 goal peak seasons)
2x 100-point getter
4x 70-point getter (+1 69-point season on top)

Then I'll take RW/LW John Anderson

Right-handed shooter that had some two-way ability, saw scant PK time late in his career, 5x 30-goal scorer, 8x 25-goal scorer,

Leafs goal-scoring in the '80's (top-3's): 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd; then 2nd on the Whalers in '87

Justin Williams, RW. 2 time cup winner and contributor on both.
Solid two way game,
Treat short handed,

I was contemplating him or kessel and the choice was made for me.

Last edited by BudsBuster: 11-03-2012 at 06:26 PM. Reason: Williams is listed as a RW

Needing a shoot-first guy to ride with Don Raleigh on the first line, the Macon Whoopee select Derek King, LW

At his best, King led a crummy Islanders team in goal scoring and feasted on the power play. Post-peak he was good for 20-30 goals a year as a journeyman.

tarheel, i must have missed where you said that your name was the Macon Whoopee. I assumed you hadn't given a name, so I took the first one I thought of and simply waited for you to notice.

Great gag it would have been..... if you hadn't given us a team name ages ago.

Round 5 comments:

Art Moore: I wasn't 100% convinced he was the best option for us yet, but I was prepared to take him later.

Paul Martin: We were interested in him, but I don't think we'd have ever gotten around to taking him. He's a shorter career Doug Lidster at this point, the way I see it. We wouldn't have wanted too much of the same thing.

Mike Murphy: One of my favourites. #1 on my list for 3rd line RWs, and he brings a lot of added intangibles to go with modest offense for a scoring line.

Colin White: Would definitely have considered him for a 3rd pairing role.

Herbert Russell: Please teach is about him. I would have advocated taking him as a spare, no doubt. But he's likely good enough to be a starter, and I say that with more confidence knowing that Iain likes him. There's just so little out there.

Earl Robertson: I think that aside from Puppa, these goalies have all gone in the right order. Martin, Winkler, Robertson.

Shawn McEachern: Didn't have the greatest offensive resume out there, but provides lineup versatility on any line, early in the draft.

Dutch Hiller: I had him right at the top for 3rd line wingers. Love the guy. Check my old bio.

Bill Flett: Will you be providing some info? You are right that his numbers weren't that good, but does he have much for intangibles? I gotta admit that seeing just 501 PIMs and 14 fights scared me away from a guy I thought was a good AAA tough guy.

Mike Ribeiro: In that group of good 1st line centers I keep referring to.
