I laughed when they announced it. He won the draw but there were like 3-4 passes between McNabb and Brennan next, really stretching it.

Game over. 3-1 win, outshot 37-32. Stars: 1. Hodgson G, A; 2. Leggio 36 saves; 3. Brennan G.

Getting worried about Girgs, he hasn't been visible at all.

Hodgson, Foligno, McNabb, and Brennan all looked solid. Although it wasn't a great back check by Marcus on the lone Hamilton goal. I've only watched a couple of Amerks games, but this was the 1st game that it looked to me like Brennan didn't struggle in his own zone.

he is also a 18 year old kid jumping straight from the USHL and the AHL is currently saturated with talent because of the lockout, give him time, he's playing smart simple hockey and is not making mistakes that cost the team

Probably because he isn't ready for the AHL. They should have let him play at least a year in college.

Exactly. But expecting too much too soon is a common mistake among fans

As long as he doesn't hurt the team too bad too often. Let the growing pains begin

I wouldn't say he's really playing smart hockey or not making mistakes at all.
They may not always be hurting the team, but he's making plenty of mistakes and I think he's dragging his linemates down, as Flynn and Porter always generate their chances without his help.

It's too early. Foligno was invisible until January last season.

He's the second-youngest player in the AHL after Lindholm and like Peters said on HH and ZZamboni a few post before this, fans have to manage their expectations of him. He's been decent along the walls and has skated fairly well, but his offensive hockey sense is nowhere near where we want it to be. The bolded part has certainly been true to date, but if we're expecting him to be a man-child already, wouldn't he have gone earlier?

My expectation was that he'd perform exactly how he has.
He hasn't gone through the proper maturation process that the majority of NHL'ers go through, so he's going to look lost.

Yeah I've liked his neutral zone play and work in the defensive zone but his offensive game is nowhere to be seen. He's always chasing the puck and when he gets it he doesn't make a good play. I know he's young but still, it's a little disconcerning.

Well, he came directly from a league that doesn't really play a pro style offense.

It was pretty obvious to me and likely anyone who actually saw him play in the USHL (or even someone who had watched a few random USHL games) that he was going to have issues with the offensive side of the game.
I didn't ***** about it all summer just to ***** about it..

Was at the game, nice turn out around 11,000 people. The 300 level was cut off. Hodgson, Foligno, McNabb, Brennan, and Flynn looked great. In particular Hodgson and Foligno, they looked a step better in nearly every facet of the game in comparison to everyone on the opponents roster. I feel like this core is looking great in the near future. A beautiful thing to have all these young talented kids to look forward to.

Funny to see people say they didn't notice Girgs. Not sure what game they were watching.

If you're referring to the goal, that was Foligno with the Mental lapse. He was next to the guy and couldn't tie up his stick.

I don't what some people expected. He wasn't really noted for his Elite Offensive game. He's Foligno lite but with better Defensive upside. He will stick up for his teammates and is a tenacious player. He showed me this the whole game. He had some nice defensive cover ups on the back check, he stood up for a teammate at a drop of a hat, he had a very nice stretch pass that just missed the mark to, I think, Porter. He also had a few blocked shots.

Came away impressed with Roy's game. He plays a simple, pest like game on the forecheck.

I think the only guy that left a bad taste in my mouth was Mancari.

Also, was it me or did Adam have 2-3 Shifts total between the 2nd and third? or was he that invisible. When I did notice him, I thought he made some decent plays.

Leggio played well, I thought the team did a nice job blocking shots.

You can tell who's ready for the NHL and who's not on this team.

First time I've seen him go down to block any shots this year but man does someone need to teach him how to do it right. Both times I saw him block a shot last night the Hamilton player was winding up and Girg just took a knee right in front of him with his face exposed, not the greatest idea. Overall, I think he's doing fine for an 18 year old though. Has had some big hits, doesn't make too many huge mistakes.

He followed through nicely on his checks. Most physical guy out there last night other than Foligno. Not sure if you could see this if you weren't at the game since they may have been out of frame.
