Which goes back to the GM. If Smith had any clue he would have axed Stan when he had the chance.

Also, for as much praise Howard gets, he is a highly flawed offensive player. They could have tried to run their offense through him and encourage him to take more shots in the post, but I am not I the belief he would be able to handle that responsibility/role.

he's not nearly as bad offensively as some make him seem. He's also a physical freak that is unmatched by pretty much anybody in the league. He'll get his. They should have been developing his offfensive game so they could run the offense through him. Really, orlando just botched the entire situation from jumpstreet.

You know what, if Howard wanted to he would have improved his offensive game. Look at Rose, every offseason he improves one aspect of his game. On the other hand there is Howard whose acumen on the offensive side of the ball has been stuck in stasis the last couple years. I think he is a great player, but I think his worth is inflated by the dearth of legitimate centers in the league at this point.

I will say he is this generation's most impactful player on defense, however.

Which means nothing in the East. You can finish five games under .500 and make the playoffs.

If Dwight would just shoot FT's granny style and hit at 75%, he'd be an unstoppable offensive force.

A little confirmation from LA side. RT "@MikeDiGiovanna: #Angels are on verge of trading Dan Haren to the #Cubs for reliever Carlos Marmol."

Ok, that makes a lot of sense. Seems pretty much financially neutral.

Haren really wasn't all that impressive the times I watched the Angels this year

Marmol still has good stuff just needs a coach who can get him to remain on track ,, Sorta a high risk/high reward type move for both sides

Yea, this is pretty much a great deal. Don't have to expect anything out of Haren to make it an upgrade.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal

#Angels, #Cubs could even money out in Haren-Marmol swap, with Angels contributing all or part of Haren $3.5M buyout.

We basically got him for free!

Great move for the Cubs. If Haren has a good first few months he could net a decent package at the deadline, which Marmol would never do.

Basically. Even if they add a prospect, it'll probably be a guy that they could replace at the deadline.

It being financially neutral is a HUGE plus.

Yep, Cubs can easily eat his salary if/when they flip him in July, which could net a better spec or two. Now we just need him and Garza to pitch well in the 1st half.

Well considering you're talking about $2 million or so bucks then it'll be no problem.

Monta Ellis and Tyreke Evans havn't signed contract extensions and are going to be free agents after the 13/14 season. Either one could do some damage for the Bulls at SG.

Bulls have no cap space.

They let Korver, Brewer, and Asik go because JR is cheap, they just signed Taj to an extension, and amnestying Boozer does nothing.

Losing Hamilton, Korver's trade exception and Boozer gives them space.

@Alden_Gonzalez Now I'm told reports of the deal still premature -- #Angels still active in discussions with more than one team.

Ugh... I really hope we get him. I think Haren has at least a few good seasons left in him, and if he can get his back straightened out... he'd be gold in Wrigley with that infield grass and splitter.

Too true

People were sleeping on the Bulls all offseason. The Pacers are incredibly overrated in the media and by general NBA fans. The Bulls should win the division again.

People seem to forget that the team still won at a 67% clip without Rose last season, and the current roster adds Hinrich and (effectively) Hamilton to that. Granted, the bench is changed up, but they look more than adequate so far.
