Given the haul it would take, I think I'm OK with that.... because there is no way you get him without giving up Baez.

Nothing more than a 2 year deal for Marcum, and preferably one. I don't trust that elbow one bit.
You would give McCarthy with his injury history a 5 yr deal?

You may. Arizona may want to try to win now so maybe they want major leaguers in return.

On second thought, maybe not. Was going off memory and thought he was more stable the last 3-4 years...

Then we're a terrible match, because I'm not giving up Rizzo or Starlin for him, and those are the only two guys they'd do an Upton deal around.

You could give them Soriano and pay his deal and Garza....but you're right, I don't think the Cubs are a good match

If you could do that, then yeah, do it... and then the following year grab some FA pitchers.

I don't think Arizona would consider it, though, given Garza will be 30 years old already.

Poor Cleveland. He got to pick 4 teams on the list: 3 of them are picked for bargaining power, and I'm assuming he just doesn't want to live in Cleveland.

Two players, reportedly, being shopped that the Cubs have interest in. Brace yourselves.

Trevor Bauer and Jeremy Hellickson

Haha, talk about timing... Didn't see the blurb on Hellickson being available, and not sure why the Rays would shop him.

But I ****ing love Bauer... Although what they would probably want for him, I would not be willing to give up.

I heard that it's not as high as I would think. Apparently he's totally out of favor there, which kind of scares me.

Heyman tweeted that he's the Rays pitcher garnering interest and the Cubs are interested.

I'd be curious to know what it would take to get him...

Sutcliff, Plesac, Gary Matthews, Karros, and Hollandsworth are the 5 finalists for the Cubs TV guy.

Always liked Gary Matthews as a player... although honestly haven't really heard any of those guys in a booth or studio, so couldn't say who'd fit best with Kasper.
