Positional scarcity + Contract value + age makes Castro a better buy.

Hope you saw the end. Talk about the air being let out of a building.

But I was encouraged to see them play well against an elite team. Definitely think this team wins the division.

Haren's medicals were the reason the trade fell apart

Cubs made an offer to Liriano.

Unconfirmed reports I have seen had the Marlins approach them about LoMo and that they were talking to the Indians about Ubaldo.

Again, only the top part is confirmed.

I'd love to get Liriano, exciting to watch and in the NL, hey, who knows what a guy with that stuff could do.

And LoMo, are you saying they came to us about him? I'd love to get that guy too, one of my favorite young players. I'd hate to give him up but if they wanted Travis Wood for him, that's a deal I make quite easily.

Well, there is another place I talk Cubs. I usually determine this kind of stuff as BS, but a poster who has been there a long time has come up huge on many occassions. He leaked prospects from what potential Atlanta/Dempster trade that came out true, Haren's medicals as the problem, etc. Always reliable. He said the Marlins approached the Cubs about LoMo and that the Cubs were also talking Ubaldo with Cleveland. He has an in.

But I am thinking maybe we could get Liriano and McCarthy or something. That's be decent.

When Maples is your No. 10, you're starting to get deep.

I am excited about the four guys at the top. Could have an incredible shortstop (Castro to second base), two amazing outfielders, and a dynamite closer.

I got accepted into your school and was thinking about broadcasting for awhile, but I decided to not go that route. I just don't see the job availability. Tough industry.

I'm excited about every one of those 10, all really good prospects. Baez has to go to third though.

Where would they be playing Morrison?

I'd be very happy with Liriano and McCarthy depending on the years (1 with a team option for Liriano, 3 years for McCarthy).

They could play LoMo at a corner OF spot. You never know; a team like Tampa Bay might take Soriano and pick up half. They need a DH.

LoMo would make a fine left fielder and if we got him and couldn't trade Soriano, then Soriano moves to RF. It might not be pretty but neither will the Cubs season anyway and Soriano has a right fielders arm.

But Morrison is no good, I guess he's worth the risk if you aren't giving up anything of value and you could put him in right with Dejesus in center.

No good? He had nagging injuries ALL last year, just write that one off. Not to mention, dealing with Ozzie. But before that, he was progressing nicely.

LoMo's bat is solid. FYI, he hit .324 in day games last year, and he'd be coming to the Cubs, a team that obviously plays a ton of day games.

The only concern is his defense. If McKay could fix Soriano, he can sure as hell fix Morrisson.

In his 3 seasons, he's been a 1.2, 1, and .2 WAR player. He's a bad fielder with big power, I guess it makes sense to get him if you get rid of Soriano but having both of them on your roster doesn't make sense.

I don't think anyone is denying LoMo's defense has been suspect.

The Cubs have a weapon named Dave McKay. Laugh all you want at me praising a first base coach. Until McKay got there, it was reported that no one worked with Soriano's defense. That absolutely blew my mind. McKay fixed Soriano and made him a respectable fielder. If you saw Soriano play for the first time and knew nothing about his previous history, you'd think he was a normal outfielder. I think LoMo can certainly be fixed if Soriano could.

Baez is a 3B. His reaction times are absolutely ridiculous and would best be utilized there.

Tampa doesn't have money to play with. They reportedly really want Justin Upton.

The Hanwha Eagles have accepted a winning bid of $25,737,737 for the right to negotiate with Korean left-hander Ryu Hyun-Jin.
The Cubs and Rangers are known to have submitted bids, but the identity of the winner has yet to be confirmed. They'll now have 30 days to negotiate a contract with the Hyun-Jin and his super-agent Scott Boras. Hyun-Jin owns a 98-52 record, 2.80 ERA and 1238/383 K/BB ratio over seven seasons in the KBO (Korea's top professional league).
