That can be any game during the season, though, not just the playoffs. Just the nature of the game. It's too hard to predict the outcome of 1 game when playing .600 ball is outstanding.
The key to baseball betting is to take the same team every game for an extended period of time. That way you aren't killed by the 1 bad bounce or whatever in 1 game. It levels the playing field a bit.

Yeah, what I really wanted to do was bet the series but if you can't do that now then I won't bet on individual games...I may bet on each of the 3 games in Detroit, that would be a good bet depending on the line, but especially if Detroit goes down 2-0, I have to imagine the money line will be favorable for those 3.
I set up an account with bovada but haven't put any money in yet. It looks like you can't bet on a series winner after the series started. So what exactly happened with Bodog? I read on Wiki the CEO was indicted for illegal gambling and money laundering. So what about this new version is legal. I just don't know much about betting sporst online. How is it legal?

That's true. I guess it just gets magnified in the playoffs and appears that some people crack under the pressure.
Also, its absurd that gambling online is illegal. They need to fix that.
Unless you plan on betting thousands and thousands per game, it's really not illegal... just a little more difficult to initially set up an account, but certainly doable.
Yeah, that's what I was gonna say. It'd be absurd for the government to only legalize online gambling when they could theoretically allow it on land, tax the **** out it, and tax the food and beer they'd sell there every Sunday.
And the best part about it is the only real threat uised to be the mob paying off players but the way salaries are now, there really isn't any amount of money that would even get the players to think about it and still be worth it for the fixers.
Johnson only has one year left on that contract, for just under $14M... only makes sense if you plan on bringing in a few other pieces to make a playoff run. Otherwise he doesn't really make a whole lot of sense, especially with the injury risk.
I'd take on Buehrle just to stick it to White Sox fans.
In all seriousness though, I don't want his contract. He gets 11M next year which is doable... but the year after that 18M, and 19M the year after that. No thanks.
Although the two of them + Garza is a helluva start to a rotation.
With 50M coming off the books and Soriano coming off before Buehrle, the Cubs could totally handle it. Adding those two to the rotation makes:

Mark Buehrle 3.74 ERA 1.17 WHIP
Jeff Samardzjia 3.81 ERA 1.22 WHIP

That's from last year, some did better than we thought they would, some did worse, so it is a pretty solid assumption we could get that production overall next year and that is most definitely a playoff contending rotation in our division.

Yes Soriano's money comes off the books... but it will likely have to be spent elsewhere on another bat. Sad as it might be, his bat was one of the better ones in that lineup last year and an important one.
However, that really isn't a bad rotation at all... I could live with that.
I love the contrast between the two lefties and the power guys. I think these 5 guys together could do some real damage. If the Marlins really do want to shed payroll, and they have been so why question it now, then for the Cubs to just pick up these two guys would be fine for the entire offseason. Obviously you add an arm in the pen and a decent 3B if you can but it's a solid team. If they are out of it at the deadline, you trade Johnson for prospects.

Just read Josh Johnson and Buehrle are available. Cubs should take on both, pay all of the salary and give nothing back.
Johnson makes sense becuse after next year if you give him a qualifying offer and doesn't take it, you get draft pick compensation. And if he's good, you flip him at the deadline. Ultimately it just matters what the Marlins want for him. If its guys that aren't in your plans then grab him.

Buehrle on his own still has pretty decent value as a 3-4 starter to a contender, and he's proved himself in the AL which is definitely a positive. I could see a team like Texas making a run at him.

The backloaded deal is a killer though, have no idea what they were thinking on that one.
With the new national TV deals, teams are gonna be spending more and more come 2014 and on. So that isn't a big deal at all, for me,
What are they estimating that each team will make in the coming seasons off those deals?

He is definitely still a solid 3... but after next year he is on the books for Ace money the two years after that. Rangers make sense, but I think he would absolutely bomb in a park and division like that.
