Gormely is developing as scheduled. If we were the Red Wings we would be praised for our patience.

Gormely is playing 25+ minutes per night in all situations. He isn't ready to jump ahead of Yandle/OEL on the depth chart and those guys play a combines 50 minutes/night meaning you have about 10 minutes (assuming no penalties) to play him. That means long stretches on the bench between shifts. If you think that is more valuable fine, that's your opinion. I for one understand why the decision has been made to foster his development and play him often at the AHL level.

I know I am biased but I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised that the 6'5" behemoth in Murphy would be on the main squad. He's an unbelievable talent. I went on record prior to his draft that I loved this kid and I called his selection a "jump up and down in excitement" move. I've lectured several posters about the potential of this kid (most notably rt btw who I am sure is just about to eat crow on his comments since the selection). He offers a skill set (size and reach) that the main squad desperately needs; especially given the mediocre play of Klesla this year. His presence on the main squad shouldn't be looked at as a negative on Murphy. It's a reflection of our scouting staff getting it right and taking a flyer on a kid who was hopelessly under-appreciated during his draft year. Honestly, I think by this time next year Murphy will have firmly secured a top 4 position in our D corps.

Have you seen him play in Portland? Like I said before I'm going on what other posters are saying and what I saw in pre-season which wasn't much. I just think he is behind in his development, with him being a high draft pick and all.

I didn't catch the whole period, but great effort on the goal by Lessio. Nice speed and nice finish to tie it up late in the period. Gormley with the assist.

That was a heart breaker to tie it late in the 2nd after a great flurry at the other end. Summers is skating smoothly and created a good chance for Miele.

The goal by Yip was a nice little tip pass by Lessio.

The PP goal by Gormley, was a very heads up play by Yip to kick it back, rather than banging it forward. Smart play by Gormley to pinch down low at that moment on the PP.

Gormley is developing just fine. He's third in team scoring on a team that doesn't score very much. He's playing major minutes - close to 32 minutes a game - seeing time on the power play, penalty kill and even strength. His minus-16 is more a product of the amount time he's spending on the ice. The likely reason why the Coyotes haven't brought him up is because of the depth chart for D who shoot R and the fact they can let him mature even more in Portland. There is no rush to bring him up.

If Gormley pots a hattie, they've got to call him up, right?

That second fight ended wildly. I think he slipped on a helmet or glove.

That was a heart-breaker by Strome.

Miele with 3 assists on the PP. Great work from the half-wall.

Is Martinook injured?

Pretty funny to watch hagel rage out in the box after his fight with gallant because he got knocked out. So much that they had to stop the game and the ref and coaches had to talk to him in the box.

I'm not as high on Gormley as most. I have only seen him play in pre-season this year and was not impressed. He looked slow and gets beat on the outside regularly. I know it takes longer for D to adjust to the NHL than forwards, but I was expecting more. I also do not like the excuse that he hasn't been brought up because of our depth. The way Stone and Runblad have been playing I would think he deserves a call up if he is playing so well in Portland.

Gormley shoots left. It's Schlemko that's taking the 3rd line NHL minutes.

Dude, I don't care if they are left or right handed, the Yotes are in the business to win games and if Gormley can help them win he will be called up. They can always send someone else down.

They seem to have given up on him. But Lessio? He must be injured. Shinnimin? Has he been that awful?
