I promise you that it didn't look like it at the time. He looked pretty lost. I'm breaking my promise, and I'll embarrass rt a bit

I think he's got bit time potential, but at the same time, I think he got more second chances last season than he deserved. I wanted him sent down all year, despite being a big fan. I think he'll be better this season, but not top four better.

That general mood was after Yandle had played half a season with the big club (and a cup of coffee the year before). Rundblad has thirty games under two different coaches/teams in comparative experience as he adjusts to the smaller rink and is a year younger than Yandle was at that point.

I'm not suggesting Rundblad will end up as reliable as Yandle, but it also isn't impossible. He also has more offensive flair than Yandle. I don't know that he's ready for prime time, but I'm certainly not ready to give up on him.

Haha. I can't possibly become MORE embarrassed. The I hit 100% embarrassed YEARS ago. You can't be 110% embarrassed. Just not possible. Haha.

I really would love a link. Even if by PM. I LOVE this old threads.

There was a time in my life that I swore Bobby Smith had ruined the Phoenix Coyotes for all eternity by trading Brad Isbister for Robert Reichel.

Rookie Phil Lane has been suspended one game for hitting St. John's IceCaps' forward John Albert from behind last Friday.... Lane will miss Friday's game vs. Worcester. Shouldn't be too much of an issue as Scott Arnold can slide into his spot.

In my defense, I did say he wasnt ready got 20+ minutes that following season. How much time did he average that next year? 16.5.

I rest my case. Hahahahahaha.

Throwing this in here since we don't have a Gladiators thread and I didn't think it fit in the prospect one:

HOLY HELL MIKE LEE IS STONEWALLING THE ECHL!!!

His first two appearances were a bit rough, but since then he's been on absolute fire.

vs Ontario
4 Goals Against, 21/25 Saves, Loss 4-2

vs Greenville
3 Goals Against, 23/26 Saves, OT Loss 3-2

vs Greenville
3 Goals Against, 33/36 Saves, Win 4-3

vs Evansville
0 Goals Against, 17/17 Saves, Win 3-0

vs Fort Wayne
2 Goals Against, 18/20 Saves, Win 4-2

vs Fort Wayne
1 Goal Against, 29/30 Saves, Loss 1-0

vs Orlando
1 Goal Against, 27/28 Saves, Win 4-1

vs Elmira
1 Goal Against, 18/19 Saves, Win 3-1

vs Orlando
1 Goal Against, 26/27 Saves, Win 2-1

So on the season he's now 6-2-1 with a 1.77 GAA, a .930 SV%, and 1 shut out

He leads the ECHL in GAA by .35, trails in SV% by only .03 despite playing 3 more games, is second in shutouts by 1, and he's tied for the lead in wins. He was also named the Goalie of the Week for October 22nd-28th!

After sort of disappearing at a relatively small school, is there a chance Mike can live up to his 3rd round selection status or is he simply a big fish in a small pond in the ECHL?

I was trying to find some of my own posts on Yandle, but I didn't find many in the quick search I did. I know one of my friends and I still remember the conversations we had about how bad Yandle looked. Considering you were the "apologist", it gives a pretty good idea on how we were all feeling about him early: "Lot of potential, but ..."

Isbister for Reichel was still pretty bad, even if Izzy did breakdown with injuries. I'll one up you by saying that I was upset they traded Izzy and not Doan. I was convinced Isbister was the better and more fiery player. Fortunately I can retreat behind Isbister's injury problems and retirement and that before the injuries the stat lines look very similar!

Concerned that OEL is not in there. Oh well, guess he has a full year to heal up.

Very Physical tonight @ WOR (11/09)

Rechlicz vs. Bonneau at least adding a bit of physicality...

1-0 POR after 1; Chris BROWN, (3), from MIELE/CONNER; 13-06, WOR-SOG

By Chris Roy Published: 9th November 2012

The Portland Pirates were in position to earn their second road victory of the season, but penalty trouble late in the second period proved costly as the Worcester Sharks eked out a 3-1 victory in front of 2,026 at the DCU Center.

Pirates can’t complete comeback
By Jason Iacona Published: 11th November 2012

WILKES-BARRE, PA – The first ten minutes of Saturday’s game against the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton couldn’t have gone any better for the Portland Pirates.

The next ten, and ultimately the final 45 with overtime, were a much different story.

Rundblad seems to be robbed of an assist on the third goal. Nice play though.

(As per the highlights on www.theahl.com -> AHL Live -> game highlights.)

Good to hear. Loved his game in college, but I'm not surprised he's a better pro. He seems like he is more suited for the pro game.

Unless somebody has on a camera phone or flip cam then no.... WBS didn't cut too many highlights that include goals from the Pirates.

So... Is Rundblad scratched tonight because of injury or is he not good enough for the AHL?
