Ovi can't even light up the KHL, can we finally admit that he's past his prime?

Stamkos?

You do realize that majority of people on these boards are Canadians...

But in all fairness you had to know that you are going to get called on that.

Ovechkin lost 10 games that season and had the one less goals and same amount of points than Sid. Offensive edge was pretty clearly Ovechkin that year.

I'd say, in general, they were pretty close looking back on the first 5 years over all. Crosby's 120 point season at 19, and OV's 65 goal season are the exceptions that stand out to me where you could argue one guy was above the other.

Since then OV's has declined and Sid got his brains scrambled. Which sucks for all of us no matter which player you like better.

True, so irritating that they both have issues.

I personally prefer OV over Sid for the first 5 years but i really don't care if someone takes Sid. Not too big of a difference.

OV has the best season overall. They both have 122 adjusted points in their best season but OV has most goals, by far. Sid has better all-around game and if he could stay healthy it would be him easily over OV but so far, no such luck.

Stamkos?
But Ovechkin is finished while these guys are currently peaking. (Finished when it comes to being elite).

I'm willing to screen name bet that Alex Semin will have a better season than Ovechkin.

You mean in the KHL? Or if the NHL starts?

If I thought there would be a season, I'd take that bet.

Crosby and Malkin took the time to evolve their games. Ovechkin hasn't. He looks the same player as when he came into the league.

I should have been more specific. Yes, assuming there is an NHL season.

I'll take that bet.

Semin has never outproduce'd Ovechkin. His career high is lower than Ovechkin's sub-bar 85 point season.

Although, he has been on pace for 105 points which is pretty impressive. But Semin lack's the physical play that OV brings so even if they are on the same ballpark of points OV could still be better. So i call your bet a longshot and i take it.

Alex Semin is playing in a lower level league than Ovechkin so pointwise, i'd expect he'll(Semin) be very productive

Radulov: 21gp 10g 18a 28pts
Malkin: 16gp 7g 17a 24pts
Kovy: 14gp 9g 14a 23pts
Ovi: 14gp 6g 8a 14pts

Ovi is about the same level as Nik Zherdev now, which is still very good.

Zherdev: 20gp 7g 13a 20 pts

Not saying that Ovi would make such defensive play, but when you weigh in what they bring to the table vs what they don't, they're about equal.

That goal would never happen in the NHL, Zherdev on par with Ovechkin is a joke.

Wat.

Zherdev has scored much more impressive goals in the NHL, are you kidding me? I think that people are seriously underestimating Zherdev here:

This dude has some serious skills. He has more pure skills than Ovechkin for sure. Ovechkin is a genetic beast though.

Still not as in denial as those who try to downplay how dominant he was/can be in top form.

I love Stamkos, but everyone who has watched hockey for longer than a year or two will know and remember that Ovechkin's first four seasons were easily better than Stamkos' first four.
In Ovechkin's first year in the NHL he was 20 years old.
He's TWO YEARS older than Crosby.

Stamkos' first four season includes playing at 18, 19, 20, 21.

NOT apples to apples.

Selanne scores 76 goals as a rookie, but he was on his 6th year of pro hockey an was 22 yrs old at the time.

NOT apples to apples.
