Ovi can't even light up the KHL, can we finally admit that he's past his prime?

Ovi now has roughly the same points per game as Evgeny Malkin. He also has 40 less PIM which is understandable because Malkin really talks a lot with the refs and gets called for that.

shhh!! hf only wants to talk about Ovechkin whens he is struggling and how dare you mention the untouchable Malkin in the same breath. He can do no wrong.

Ovechkin's PPG is 1.14 while Malkin's is 1.27.

That's not "roughly the same points per game".

Physical offensive players often have an early prime, Trevor Linden is a prime example of this. Constant wear and tear on body won't allow you to age gracefully like an Elias, Selanne, Alfredsson or Lidstrom.

That's like saying 93 Pts (1.14 PPG over 82 games) is roughly the same as 104 Pts (1.27 PPG over 82 games).

But it's not 1.14. It's 1.23. He has 27 points in 22 games.

It is when Canadians compare Stamkos to Ovechkin

He is past his prime. Didn't even win the Stanley Cup. Did he win the gold?

What are we doing with this thread now as it seems he is starting to light up the KHL?
In all seriousness: I hope OV keeps it up, would be great for him and hockey in general.

I'm a Pens fan and even I'm rooting for Ovechkin to find his form again. I want great players to be great. It's good for the game and makes the league more enjoyable to follow.

Yeah it is roughly the same, he gets one more point than him every 8 games. ROUGHLY does not mean the same

Ovi: 22GP 12G 15A 27P - 1.23PPG
Malkin: 26GP 11G 22A 33P - 1.27 PPG

yes i know thats his real PPG avg, i'm just arguing that a difference of .13 is not that big at all, and roughly the same

What, Malkin is mouthing off to the refs more than Ovi? What alternate universe is this? Do cats chase dogs and hamburgers eat people?

Actually, that's exactly what it is. Over an 82 game season, that comes out to a difference of 3 or 4 points.

I've seen Malkin get taken off his game plenty of times. Now that he can actually speak the same language as the refs, I don't find it hard to believe that he would occasionally mouth off.

Not to the tune of 40 PIM though.
