Been awhile since i've checked twitter and cared about hockey in general, but decided to log on today and found this at the top of my feed.

NYIslanders ‏@NYIslanders
#Isles and @BarclaysCenter to make major announcement TODAY: http://nyisl.es/eJkEP

Edit: and i figured I'd put it here instead of it's own thread, but if you click the link and look at all the names.....this could be huge....

Edit to Edit: and it's moved to it's own thread

Put this in a thread of its own. Wonder what's up?

Could Wang have struck a deal to move?

You don't get Bettman and Bloomberg down there if this isn't the best news in a whole long time. Guys.

THE ISLANDERS ARE NOT LEAVING THE ISLAND! HELL YES!

@StapeNewsday: That last RT from the #Isles is not an overblown PR stunt from what I've heard... Trying to find out more. This could very well be major.

Doesn't Wang still want his own place out on LI? Maybe it's like a 5 yr lease agreement? Sorry if I'm not up on all of the happenings

woo! this better be the case.....id imagine that if bloomberg is here this isnt about a preseason game for next season.....

pretty weird that bettman is not negotiating the day before his hard deadline though (not that im complaining if this saves the isles.....just what initially popped into my head)

Chris Botta ‏@ChrisBottaNHL
Mayor Bloomberg's presence at today's press conference would seem to indicates #Isles want to get to Brooklyn as quickly as they can.

Yeah to have Bettman, Isles and Barclays brass, and nanny Bloomberg there....this has got to be huge news. And Botta just tweeted, it might even mean the Isles are going to try and get there sooner, rather than later.

I can't believe this day (MAY) have finally come.

YESSSSSSSS!! NYI to Brooklyn. As it should be. Now we find out if it's temporary or permanent. If Wang keeps the team or sells. Finally, some closure I assume. I should go check it out on my lunch hour.

Saw a concert at Barclay's on Monday. They got it right. The place is gorgeous, loud and convenient. It's a combination of MSG, the old Byrne arena and a little of NVMC's intimacy all rolled into one. I left the concert thinking the Cup parade will be cool on Flatbush Avenue one day.

I guess that's the big question...if it's temporary or permanent. But I don't think you get Bloomy there if the Isles are just going to make it temporary.

This is HUGE if true... And I say that because of all the parties involved.Mayor Michael Bloomberg would not be there unless they were welcoming a new team to the city, Bettman as well...I live 10 min from the colliseum and I would hate to see all my first hockey memories dissapear with that building but the truth is Nassua county droped the ball big time, in particular Kate Murray.. And I am Happy if this is true because it means My Beloved Islanders will be STAYING in NEW York and we can now concentrate about John Tavares taking this team to the promise land without a uncertain future hanging over the teams head...

Though I want to believe this, I wont until I hear Bettman and Wang say it themselves.

I'm glad they are staying but it sucks that they just cut Suffolk attendance buy probably 75% or more. But like I said, I'm glad they are staying.

If this is some ******** about a preseason game or something ill be spending the rest of today clubbing baby seals.
If the Isles announce they are moving to Brooklyn, I'll shed tears of joy. No in between, really.
