Has anyone notice that in football , players get a concussion and are back a week later. But in hockey there really is no time table for a concussion.

Most players know if they get hurt in football, it could cost them their job

they just dont throw football players out there after a concussion. every player who suffers a injury above the neck have to go thru concussion tests right after they are taken off the field. if they fail any part of the test they cannot return.

A point worth raising any time someone suggests doing away with guaranteed contracts...

Hasn't Michael Vick been out for 4 weeks with his concussion? McCoy missed 2 games.

yeah, i think we're seeing more and more that NFL players are missing multiple weeks. plus we have to keep in mind that the severity of the concussion obviously determines the amount of time a player misses to some extent. and i think we can all agree that football players' heads are a little better protected then hockey players.

btw didn't giroux miss less then two weeks w/ his concussion?

You could read the tea leaves that it was an ACL for Holmstrom.

I disagree with you here. Football has changed the way it handles concussions 100%. The days of how many fingers am I holding up and what day it is before you get back in have gone. Unless the player is a good BS artist they will be out until they pass a mulitude of tests, some which are independent of the team before they can play again. You would like to think that the reason for this is "player safety" but I beleive that to a certain extent the possibility of a lawsuit is another factor why the league has changed it's position on how it handles concussions. It looks to me that all leagues are changing, for the better, on how concussions are being handled.

Anyone aware of any feeds for the phantoms game tonight? I heard it was being shown on Comcast, so figured there would already be links for it up on firstrow, wiziwig or atdhe, but nothing so far, would be much appreciated if someone can post one if they find one.

Had some nice defensive plays and a scoring chance about halfway through the first.

Heeter bails out Phantoms with a huge save after a turn over. Rebound batted in with a high stick. No goal.

2-1 after the 2nd. Testwuide had 2 goals. One he picked a corner top shelf and the other was some good work around the net on the power play. Before the last half of the 2nd the phantoms in general looked pretty brutal. Schenn and Couturier have made some decent plays. Manning rang one off the post. Heeter has been solid.

Apparently Gustafson got hurt blocking a shot last game. I have no idea how bad. Sorry if I'm repeating known info.

The skill of Manchester is light years ahead of the Phantoms. Some how they scrapped together two goals though.
