Kulemin is a winger. We don't need yet another 15 goal third line winger.

I don't think Gagner, MPS, 1st is better than Bozak, Frattin, 1st, definitely not enough to make me trade him in division.
I don't think you'll find anyone who agrees with you. MPS, Gagner and a 1 is much much better than Bozak, Frattin and a 1. It's not even close.

I also like that Edmonton proposal, especially with Gagner coming back. He'd replace Hodgson perfectly for us.

Just my 10 cents, but I think Yakupov >> Eberle long term ... JMO

If we could get him for Luongo I think that is a very decent return.

I would be happy with Eberle or Yakupov...but I'm not a big Gagner fan. Guy has plateaued since his rookie year.
If we got him, he would score the quietest 45 points you ever saw and disappear in the playoffs.

There is absolutely no chance in hell we bring in Yak or Eberle.

Either would be a success, though I think Yakupov is the better of the two.

Latest Luongo

If the Canucks are looking to splash something on their currently useless $5 million Rogers Arena scoreboard, may we suggest:

Thank you, Kevin Lowe.

After The Province recently revealed the Edmonton Oilers were the surprise latecomer in the Roberto Luongo sweepstakes, Lowe stoked the fires by admitting publicly he’s not exactly overwhelmed with confidence when he looks at his situation in net.

“Goaltending is a question mark,” Lowe admitted in a radio interview. “And I say that in all respect to Devan Dubnyk and Khabi (Nikolai Khabibulin). Khabi has been injured and he’s approaching 40.

“He’s given us stretches of strong goaltending but his health is one thing.”

On Dubnyk, he continued: “He’s got to go out and prove it now if he’s going to take over the No. 1 job.”

Luongo, well-informed of the Oilers interest, did his part by giving the “Edmonton questions its goalies” storyline a deft tweak by donning one of his vintage Grant Fuhr Oilers’ masks and posting it on twitter for Halloween. Trick or treat?

Sublime stuff, really.

Brian Burke must have loved it.

Despite reports, a deal between Toronto and Vancouver for Luongo isn’t done, which is why Vancouver’s assistant GM Laurence Gilman and senior adviser Stan Smyl were in Abbotsford this week, scouting the Toronto Marlies.

Coincidently, Burke and his lieutenant Dave Nonis were also in attendance. Of course, the teams aren’t permitted to talk trade during the lockout, though if they did, who would ever know?

Most people still believe a deal with Toronto is going to get done. The Leafs need a goalie, maybe desperately so. There is one veteran, sure-thing starter available. The Canucks like several assets in the Toronto organization, including Tyler Bozak, who they believe could step in and be their third-line centre. The obvious trade remains obvious.

But Edmonton certainly helps steer the leverage needle toward the Canucks.

It may seem improbable the Canucks would deal in their division, but it’s not impossible. Using one hypothetical, if the Oilers were to offer Jordan Eberle, the trade is done, pending Luongo’s approval.

And don’t be so sure Luongo would say no, given the Oilers collection of young talent and the opportunity to stick it to Vancouver six times a year.
This Botch article has stirred up some 'having a bird' moments with Oilers media (specifically Dan Tender). Lol.

lol @ mentioning Eberle. I mean it's not that it's totally impossible, it just seems random when on the previous paragraph he implies Luongo would be dealt for Bozak.

I'd do Yakupov and take on a contract like Horcoff for Luongo.

Lowe should have never questioned Dubnyk's ability in the media --> It's just a foolish way to manage. Burke did something similar with Reimer.

Now it's obvious that there is interest from both teams (EDM and TOR), but then both teams cannot gauge the interest of the other. No accurately anyways. All they know is that there is interest in an upgrade. Throw that in with the rumours about each offering assets for Lu, and they are literally playing off one another.

What makes things more intriguing is the history between Lowe and Burke, and between Gillis and Burke... There is every reason for Lowe to want to "one up" Burke in this situation.

This is getting good. Lowe vs Burke in a "trade-off". We could end up with 5 1sts and 3 or 4 blue chippers once these two start playing chicken with one another.

Luongo not a chance, best outcome would be prv, gagner, 1st.

Schneider+ maybe. He's young enough to last 12 years and cover the core, he's also cheap at $4m. More likely it'd be Eberle than Yak to traded.

Hall RNH Yakupov (Eberle)
Klefblom Schultz
Schneider

If they can find a stud ls dman, that might be the scariest lineup in the NHL with potential 1st team all stars in every spot.

They're going to be scary anyways. Too much talent on that team to be this bad for much longer...

Schneider is a no go for me.

Why do you think they trade Eberle before Yakupov? They just handed him a 6m per contract. I think it's the other way around.

It was really my point. Botch was purely using a 'hypothetical', he outlined that pretty clearly. EDM media and fans went bazurk at a hypothetical.

The fact is that Edm NHL record 3 1st overall draft choices make these guys scary contenders for the next 7-8 thousand years. Just because no one in their right mind wants to live in that wasteland (I have friends and family who grew up their, not just flaming) doesnt matter ... if they get Luo - with their potential offense and improved D and goaltendign they coud be scary. I think K Lowe desrves the next 4-5 GM awards for his successful tanking.

I can't believe some people here are talking about yakupov or eberle coming back for Luongo. Seriously? Not happening. Not even close. I hope I'm dead wrong but highly unlikely.

Botchford tweeted something and then something happened in Edmonton and then we went 2+2 =5.2 and decided the oilers were now the front runner for Luongo. That is a scarey idea having one of the best goalies behind that team in 2 years time
