The Winnipeg Jets and Columbus Blue Jackets have pulled off a trade that will see Jack Johnson and Nick Foligno head to Winnipeg in exchange for a package that includes Alex Burmistrov, Spencer Mahacek, Jacob Trouba and a first round draft pick.
The Jets are thrilled to bring a talent like JMFJ to the roster and now feel like they have one of the best defence cores in the NHL. Foligno also brings an element to the team that the Jets want more of with his two-way ability and gritty style of play.
Thanks to Columbus GM for the easy negotiations and good luck to Burmistrov, Mahacek and Trouba in their new home.
With the recent trades the Jets would like to remind everyone that Nik Antropov, Alexei Ponikarovsky and Antti Miettinen are all on the block. I'm not expecting more than a 2nd/3rd round pick in return for these guys and won't hold on to them long, so get your offers in quick.
As far as defencemen go Ron Hainsey could potentially be available since he no longer has a top-four role on the team and one of Clitsome/Postma will be moved on the cheap before the deadline.
If I didn't mention the player it's likely because they are not available, feel free to inquire but I'm not gonna mess with this roster too much.
still doing some minor shopping. We are happy to see there is no cap minimum Thanks IR-Bettman!
To ignite talks a little, here's what we are shjopping for value-wise from our block. Everything is of course negotiable...and doesn't have to be the specific pieces listed (and if you want to offer more, don't be shy ). Just gives you something to work with when it comes to my starting point.
Mike Smith- 1st + a prospect/higher-end prospect/non-old 1b Goalie + asset
LaBarbara- Mid-pick/mid-prospect/Pick upgrade (eg. pick+Labs for higher pick)
Torres- mid-pick/prospect/pick upgrade/potential bottom 6er/An agreement to fly 1000 of your fans to Coyotes home games so we don't look so empty (ok, i'm joking...a little)
Morris- 2nd+prospect/cheaper youngish D+ asset/Morris+asset for a 1st (or 1st+ depending on what i send)
Summers/Stone/Schlemko(1 of): Higher-end prospect/young forward with similar upside
Gordon: 3rd/Gordon+5th for 2nd/solid prospect
Conner: mid-prospect/mid-pick/pick upgrade/Useful AHLer or NHL/AHL tweener
Bolduc: See above
Chad Johnson (not the football one): See above
Anyone else can be discussed, just not being shopped. Untouchables are Yandle, Doan, Gormley, OEL (maybe for a big overpay), Bissonnette
OTB:
Ruutu - Getting some interest but nothing solid yet. He will definitely be moved
Boychuk - I just don't think there's a spot for him in the lineup
Stewart - See above
Corvo - Just not a fan
Guys that could be had:
Semin - probably not given the contract but if I get a deal I like I won't say no.
Pitkanen - I don't know he doesn't excite me as a player. Most likely in a package for an upgrade.
Jokinen - Not impressed with him but he's cheap and pretty good so I'm not super inclined to move him
Needs - Top 6 upgrade, 4th Dman preferably RH, Top pairing Dman either LH or RH, 3C Upgrade
The Montreal Canadiens have traded forward Tomas Plekanec and defenseman Yannick Weber to the New York Rangers for forward JT Miller, defenseman Dylan McIlrath, their 2014 1st round pick and Florida 2013 3rd round pick.
It was a very difficult decision to move Plekanec. He was great for us during many years, he is a tremendous leader and a team player. With the Rangers, he will get a legit chance at the Stanley Cup and we think it is for the best at this stage of his career. We would like to wish him, and Weber, the best of luck with their new team.
We are pleased to add two guys like Miller and McIlrath to our organization who will bring size to our prospect pool. We believe that they will fit nicely with our group of young players who will be NHL ready in the next few years. There is a strong parity in the Eastern Conference this season and many teams got better in the last few months. We don’t want to send the wrong message to our fans. We are not going for a rebuild as we consider that we already have the right pieces in our system. With that being said, we will have to give them the time to develop properly. One thing is for sure, we have a lot of talented young players knocking at the door and we will be able to place an exciting team to watch year after year. They will learn to win together and the fans will finally get the team that they deserve.

Welcome To The Big Apple
The New York Rangers are proud to have added a great checking top 6 centermen like Plekanec added to our line up. Finding a top 6 center was a need for us and getting this trade done was key for us moving on. Yannick is a good young Defensemen who will get a chance to prove himself in our Lineup. He has the talentt there it is about putting it together.
The Vancouver Canucks and Florida Panthers finalized a trade yesterday that will see Vancouver's franchise goaltender for the past 6 years return to the team that sent him there, in the Florida Panthers.
"With Cory Schneider emerging as a legitimate #1 goaltender in the NHL, we felt this team needed a new face between the pipes. Robert has been a class act for us since day 1, and we couldn't be happier with his tenure here. Our passionate fans expect the best of this team, and at times, they can be a little TOO passionate; Robert was often the target of criticism and we felt it would be better served for our organization, him, and our fans if he was moved. We thank our former team captain for all his time here"
Nick Bjugstad
Florida 2nd 2012
Jose Theodore
Marcel Goc
Roberto Luongo
Yann Sauve
The return lands our team one of our targeted prospects in Nick Bjugstad, someone we've been excited about and looking to acquire for some time. Marcel Goc will provide this team with a reliable 3rd line center who can put the puck in the net. Jose Theodore is a proven NHL goaltender who will help take some pressure off Cory Schneider and get a chance for a long playoff run with the Canucks.

Awesome trade for Vancouver... that will make you really upset in real life!
Trust me, I'm not the main board posters who are asking for Gardiner/Lupul/Kessel/JVR.. BUT I also don't expect him to go for Bozak and a pick.
Somewhere in the middle... like this trade!
I guess that we'll see but Florida would be dumb to move Bjugstad in a deal for Luongo IMO, especially when they have Markstrom who will soon be NHL ready.
Don't get me wrong, Luongo is a great goaltender. But when it comes to pressure, he isn't the guy to rely on.

Looking for a top-4, RH defenseman. Preferably a veteran who can play a decent two-way game. Also looking for a 3rd line LW. Clutterbuck is still available, and I've had some solid offers for him. Get them in since I want to trade him already.
