Gostisbehere's balanced approach to defense paying dividends for Dutchmen

Junior defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere has been a big reason behind the recent success of Union College. The Margate, FL native currently ranks second on the Dutchmen roster in scoring by a defenseman with 31 points (eight goals, 23 assists) in 41 games to date. Gostisbehere also is tied for second on the team with a +26 rating. He logs among the most minutes of any player on Union College’s roster and plays in all situations.

Hockey’s Future caught up with Gostisbehere after practice on Friday at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA to discuss a variety of topics, including being a prospect of the 2014 Frozen Four host city’s NHL team.… read more

1g 1a +4 in the first period of the championship game. His goal was a 1 v5 goal. If Gaudreau is 1a Ghost is 1b

Looking like he'll have no problem playing in that rink in the future...

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 1m
Shayne Gostisbehere (PHI) played one of all-time great games to lead Union to NCAA win. 7-4 win over Minnesota. 1G, 2A, +7 for Gostisbehere.

What's balanced about being out there for all the goals-for, and none of the goals-against? (at even strength)

Lol. It is crazy that for all the offense he brings, he made a ton of great defensive plays too.

Come join the Flyers for a playoff run would you! He could help the 2nd PP unit right now.

One of, if not the most dominant performance I've ever seen in the NCAA tournament. Congrats, Ghost.

Good question. Though with the TV timeouts it allowed him to play big minutes. It seemed like he was out there all the time. I can't find that stat anywhere, but I would say he probably played upwards of 26-27 minutes.
