This is about to get ugly. Players will rage on twitter once it's officially announced today.

Frankly I view this as good news.

If a deal was ever going to happen, it wasn't going to happen until each side officially lost some money. Now it'll be official. Maybe now these ***** will be motivated.

I think the players are going to rue the day they hired Fehr to represent them.

I'm almost getting to the point where I don't care if they come back. I realized yesterday that if there was no hockey, I could spend more time at the local rinks actually playing. I think I would probably prefer that.

Same dude. Been playing at the rink down the block from my house...literally 4 mins away. I played there 2 times in the 6 yrs its opened. Since the lockout, ive played at least once a week after work. Goalies are free haha.

Matt Carkner, Eric Boulton and Marty Reasoner were there the last few weeks playing open puck too.

I'm assuming with Nov getting wiped out, we'll probably hear nothing for the next couple of weeks-which means they are either a) going to negotiate quietly, or b) more likely going to "cool off" and not speak to each other.

NHL I think is saying they need time now "re-evaluate" a deal not based on a 82 game season, ect ect.

The talk about punting Winter Classic and All Star game-I guess that's removal of leverage by the owners I suppose-though with the Thanksgiving NBC probably being now punted, you would have to think that advertisers and NBC and co are not pleased with this at all.

Yeah on the day that the entire month of November is cancelled, Derek Roy is posting pics of his Ferrari on Twitter. This just doesn't add up... maybe the majority of the players really are THAT dumb and blindly following Fehr.

Fehr won't crack. It really is about himself. Bettman has an ego as well, but ultimately, he refers back to the owners. Also, Fehr seems to have convinced the players to blindly follow his lead.

Someone said it best earlier: they knew this would happen the moment Fehr was hired. He doesn't care. He wants to further his name as the man who beat the MLB and the NHL.

We should all take up rollerblading and start an international rollerblading hockey league.

I like it. I think I'm going to make a point to do the same. (if we actually have a real winter here this year).

Go back to the roots.

No, they have to create a brand new schedule now. They won't just pick up with the old 82 games schedule that they just cancelled. Not every team has lost the same number of games by using the calendar.

They could probably get a 70 game season done if they agree to something this weekend. They can still start in November, just have to create a new schedule to do it.

Yeah, thank god for twitter, it is outing all the stupidity of the players. How can you seriously post this drivel and expect sympathy???

Good for a laugh I guess, but the players are making themselves out to be idiots. Wonder what players would have been posting back in 04

The PA doesn't care about them cancelling these games, they have already stated they think they can fit an 82 game sched in later than the Nov 2, deadline the NHL put out.

So, as far the PA goes, no money lost yet.

It's official:

One day after a deadline to save a full 82-game schedule expired, the NHL informed all 30 teams on Friday it was cancelling games through to Nov. 30, Hockey Night in Canada’s Elliotte Friedman tweeted.
