As long as the vetoes are "this trade is abusing the system" and not "this trade makes my rival/a GM I don't like better," I'm cool with it.

Assuming the trade goes throughl I hope that puts my team over the top. My d core will be:

Whitney (85) Petry (86)
Wideman (84) Kronwall (86)
Smid (81) Klein (77)

If I cant win a round or two with that defense, Pekka Rinne, Giroux, and Spezza...then Im blowing it all up in the offseason.

That defense would look much better with Jordan Leopold.

If you have a successful team and you don't win, you don't just blow it up. You change it a little. But the playoffs in this game is completely random. You pretty much just need a team that can make the playoffs. Blowing everything up doesn't help you in this case.

Yea but Ive had just as good of a team the previous two years as a 3rd seed, and a 5th seed. I lost in the first round in 7 the first year, and then got swept last year. My team is built around Rinne, but hes 33 or 34 and will decline soon.

I have been in this league for two seasons and never been offered a single trade.

Damn, you had a ton of depth forwards I wouldve been interested in. Maybe we can talk in the offseason depending on how my team does.

The office is always open, gents. Even for Indrew. My brief stint atop the Western Conference won't keep me from being realistic about my team.

You definitely have to be proactive and search trades out. I can only think of one or two GMs who offer players to everyone.

Sounds like we've simulated past the deadline?

If we have, can someone please post the standings for the East? I forgot to check in today and I'm not going back on.

Just throwing this out there, but how do others feel about GMs changing teams?

I am not saying this because I am tired of Calgary or anything, just asking for realistic purposes. Let's say Calgary does not make the playoffs this year or next. What are the odds they would keep their GM after missing the playoffs for 3 years, directly after going to the cup finals?

So it would be like I get fired by Calgary then hired by another team... Just a thought. Adds a little more realism.

only issue with that is the expectations for each franchise are different. Colorado made it to the SCF last year so what if I miss the playoffs this year. Do they fire me in order to scapegoat ownership and then I gotta join a crapier team cuz my guys were lazy.

I would be up for this, my only issue is that I've been developing some of my prospects, and it would be a shame not to see if they pan out...

Otherwise, I wouldn't mind taking on the Jackets.

I'd be ok with it. As long as people aren't switching teams seasonally.

If it keeps people interested then its okay with me. I want to see this run as long as we can. With that said, maybe only one switch per 5 seasons or something like that? Also we would have to moniter past trades and future trades between the team you were and the one you are now.

Didn't think about that one. But in theory one would be taking a CPU controlled team and with our new "bylaw" we aren't able to trade with them without approval. So in the end, it wouldnt matter too much.

Yeah, doesn't surprise me. Ovechkin is going for like a 130 point season haha. Ive never seen a point total that high in my hundreds of sims in offline-be-a-gm. He hasn't even scored 50 goals yet.

And God damn is the Western conference tight!

Seed / Team / Games / Points

3rd - Chicago - 76 - 88
4th - Anaheim - 77 - 92
5th - St Louis - 77 - 88
6th - L.A. - 76 - 87
7th - Nashville - 77 - 87
8th - Colorado - 75 - 85
9th - Dallas - 75 - 83
10th - Vancouver - 77 - 83
11th - Calgary - 78 - 81

Good thing I didn't end up trading my first as I could very well be in the 10th to 11th spot in the conference
