I guess Fehr doesn't care about whether the players get to play 4 more games.

If we have a deal done by the weekend - we can have a 52 game season starting by Jan 12th.

If not, and Fehr takes this to the 11th hour - then we will get the cut-off 48 game season.

I'm with Guerzy.

Which film ends 30 minutes before the credits?

I'm not sure that it will work that way. If they come to an agreement, even today, I bet they don't start until the 11th anyways.

Just heard from a VERY reliable source: There are several Jets in town that do not live here.

That IMHO is a pretty good indicator. Get ready boys!!

I'm pretty sure Wheeler is in town but that (for his case) doesn't have anything to do with the negociations as he's having two weeks off from Red Bull Munich. So does Stastny. Enström came back last week and that wasn't because off the talks either.

But why come to Winnipeg for your two weeks off? Doesn't have family here or something?

As far as I remember correctly, Wheels had a twitter conversation with Stapleton, telling him that he will have those 2 weeks off (which was also known in Germany). He said (AFAIRC!!!) that he will split the two weeks, one in Minneapolis (family) and one in Winnipeg (family/friends/rink).

*edit*

you made me nervous so I'm looking it up

This is a picture of Wheelers baby son at his first ever hockey game which was in Munich and won't be in the Peg .

After re-reading the tweets, I think I missunderstood something and he spent the first week in Minny and the 2nd week on Maui... WITH Stapleton .

Watch this talk.

It is a positive sign the PA didn't file the disclaimer because I believe that would have been the end for this season. Both sides seem to have a similar sense of urgency now and I expect a season but agree that they will probably run the shot clock down. I would still not be shocked if this comes off the rails but at this point I have moved my personal optimism meter from 50-50 to 80-20.

As I stated I would like the shortened season mostly to make sure next season (starting with the draft) is not impacted. It is my view that there will be a deal on the table now that will be good enough for TNSE to succeed on and off the ice.

Selanne is optimistic. I think he's right.

I've heard similar things from an inside "source".

Cautious optimism at it's highest level thus far.

on the main board they said something like "CBC got a call from the NHL to prepare for announcements/NHL start" or something like that? I didn't understand those quotes.

NHLPA executive board will begin the process to have players approval to disclaim if no agreement is concluded by today.

Players voted yesterday to give Don Fehr full authority to decide on Disclaimer last night. Obviously, D.Fehr decided against it.

I'm too lazy to look in detail at the various CBA proposals but is there any news regarding whether they are going to close the NCAA UFA loophole that allowed Wheeler and Schultz to become UFAs? This could have implications for the Jets considering Trouba is in the NCAA system.

The media keeps raising our hopes up then sending them crashing down. Yesterday night, it sounded like something would be done by the end of the week. Now, it sounds hopeless again.
