Brian Burke new Blackhawks GM?

Hey guys - just heard this rumor and thought I'd post it. Didn't see a thread on it so I thought I start a new one and share it. Sorry if this has already posted.

Heard the rumor on a weekly Blue Jackets radio show from Jeff Rimer. Go here and scroll down to the bottom of the page to "Between the Pipes with the Blue Jackets" and take a listen.

If Burke will be the new GM, why'd they bring in Rick Dudley? I thought the rumor was Tallon and Sutter out, Dudley and Cassidy in as GM and coach?

I've never liked Burke anyway ... although I've never liked Pulford, either.

Would love to see it.

Burke doesn't take any crap.

Let Tallon be the assistant under Burke for as long as Burkes here than Tallon can take over much like Nonis did.

Best move the 'Hawks could make. I give Burke his dues. He knows how to turn around franchises in disarray. Can't say the same for Dudley as he's either quit or got fired.

Although it would convieniently get rid of Pulford and his promise of two top line forwards.

Wirtz(s), Pulford, Burke and Dudley?

Wow, that's a lot of ego...

From an outsiders' point of view I think it would be a good hire. He left Vancouver in good shape and with the Hawks prospects the future could be bright.

Yea..

All the hawks need is to trade Pavel Bure, and fleece Milbury with Trevor Linden. Oh, it also wouldn't be bad to trade **** for marcus naslund.

Brian Burke has gotten very lucky in Vancouver. Imagine if he would have drafted well, or given Bert/Naslund a real second line?

I've never bought into the Brian Burke-genious talk.

Why in God's name would Chicago want him after his abysmal perfromance in Vancouver. There were very good reasons he was given his walking papers.

Also as others have pointed out Rick Dudley has just been hired. You Pulford, Tallon and Dudley - where does Burke fit?????

Dudley was hired as a friggin Hockey operations CONSULTANT.

He's not a major player when it comes to roster moves.

Sorry to burst the bubble of Hawks fans longing for Burke to take over..

Burke denies report
Jan. 25 @ 8:40 AM
Brian Burke finds himself surrounded by a familiar rumour, and is a little ticked off about it. New York Post columnist Larry Brooks reported that Burke would join the Chicago Blackhawks when the NHL lockout ends, citing two sources.
But, the Vancouver Province reported Burke blasted the report.
"Larry Brooks is true to form again," Burke said. "I have never talked to anyone about the Chicago Blackhawks job and Larry Brooks should visit his physician and get his prescription renewed."

I don't know how many people actually wanted Burke to be GM here, Kmad. I know i'm glad he's not coming here. See FMN's post earlier.

Just to update, Burke just said on the Mojo station that he hasn't been contacted by Chicago at all and doesn't expect to be talked to by them.
