Newcastle are being linked with Cheikhou Kouyate of Anderlecht by a Belgian paper, the Senegalese CB would cost around £7mil. Not sure how much I believe this one, but the fact that Ba & Cisse know the guy could mean something.
Newcastle also linked with St Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. I think that is more along the lines of "position of need meet player that mighttttttt be available so as a journalist I should run with it" rumor.
I wonder if having RVP will help United land Schneider.
He has been a rumored target for years. Perhaps this time it will happen.
RVP will have nothing to do with it. The problem in seasons past was Fergie wouldn't break his salary structure for Sneijder. I doubt he does now on an older Sneijder. If anything RVP might convince Sneijder if they are friendly at the NT level to take a pay cut - something that is forcing him to maybe leave his current team...so I doubt it.
Metro, caught offside, sky Deutschland reports lewandowski is a done deal to united for 12m at end of season
Why another striker? Makes no sense to be honest except if they're getting him at a good deal, which 12m seems pretty low for Lewandowski, I personally think he's more in the 14-17m range.
Also JA is saying Arsenal could strike for,
Fernando Llorente (Good chance at him)
Wesley Sneijder (No chance, probably wants play on a big name team)
Adrián López (Saying Madrid needs money to keep Falcao for future CL and needs to sell players for that money)
Maybe saf is considering moving Rooney to midfield full time.
M'vila is unlikely to be a target. Being banned from the French team would probably be a big no no in terms of character for united.
I don't think M'vila is a likely transfer target either. What I meant was that ManU need a player like him a lot more than another striker. Of course Lewandowski would still improve ManU, but a good central or defensive midfielder or even a cb would improve it by a lot more. 3 goals against Reading does not promise good things for later rounds in CL or against top tier EPL teams.
Ferguson probably has faith that one or two out of Evans, Jones and Smalling will develop into a quality centre back. Besides, it's not like there are a lot of world class defenders available right now anyway, nearly all of the high quality ones play for clubs that aren't going to let them go.
I agree that United would have a lot more use for a high quality central midfielder than a striker though.
