Ronaldo taking a paycut doesn't mean Real taking a paycut.
The 100M€ have to be found.

Oh the difference IS huge.
Paris is an amazing city and stars love to be there.
Cost of livng? Taxes? We're talking about superstars here, not fringe pro players.

Try shopping avenues, wheather, nightclubs, schools, maybe cultural places.
These are the main things for a superstar footballer and his family.
And Paris is miles ahead in these categories (though the Ermitage is amazing).

Actually there are temporary beaches in summer, but let's be honest, superstars go to pacific islands in the summer...

Yanga-Mbiwa to United?

"My dream is to play with the shirt of Manchester United in a match in Old Trafford. My favourite club is United without doubt," he told France Football.

For some reason I got an image of Ronaldo painting a wall while wearing sunglasses and those far-too-tight silver colored shorts.

He will be sold before he's out of contract.

Why would Real let him go for nothing?

and why would PSG buy him out if he'd be unwilling to sign there?

we all agree that the idea of him "wanting" to play in Ligue 1 would have to essentially come down to money...yet I've already mentioned how the articles+his decision to not renovate suggest that this is certainly NOT about money, rather an emotional issue for Ronaldo...if you think just by being in Paris is the answer to this emotional issue, well than so be it that's your opinion and you're entitled to that speculation...

Saying that he'd play out his contract support the assumption or speculation that he wants to play for United....Anzhi, PSG, some UAE club or some Uzbek club can all meet the buy out clause, but only by completing his contract can Ronaldo choose to go wherever he wants if United or x club where he wants to play can't meet the buy out clause...

Players are also professionals, guys working in an industry with a very short period in which to cash out. When you're talking about a difference of over 60% of their salary just to taxes that money becomes a huge draw. Plus high class shopping areas, nightclubs and culture are nothing if not spectacular in St. Petersburg. I'll give you schools, although the schools that the wealthy send their kids to aren't that different regardless of where you are, and the weather is better in Paris during the winter, but you are immensely over-rating the difference between the two cities. But we'll see.

Again, you're comparing Paris with Anzhi, or UAE clubs.
PSG is competitive in the CL.

There's a really good chance ANY player is interested. Will Ronaldo be interested enough?
It's obvious he'll leave and it's obvious Real will want to turn him into big time money. So he'll possibly leave this summer (the earlier the better for Real). Chelsea, City, PSG are likely bidders (outside the russian teams for instance).
Now he might choose City, he might choose Chelsea, but it's extremely possible he chooses PSG.

You're trying to say that Ronaldo wants to go to United so much that he'd be OK to start a war with Real ("I want to go but not now") for several years?
That's not how it works with superstars.
The team and the player will agree on a transfer time and agree that Ronaldo will chosse among the clause bidders.

We're talking 80+M€ here. No way Real forgets about that sum of money.

Now if United can meet the price, then...

Wait I'm so confused. Doesn't Ronaldo have a €1 billion buyout clause in his contract? Or is that not for a transfer/will Madrid waive that?

EDIT: yep, here it is:

Spanish rules mean that all players have a buyout clause in their contract. If any team offers that price, the clause is triggered and it is automatically up to the player if he wants to move. However, the team can accept less than that.

For example, Santi Cazorla had a €45m buyout clause but Málaga accepted €20m from Arsenal. On the other hand, Demba Ba is probably worth twice as much (or 4 times as much at Premier League prices) as his £7.5m buyout clause... but that is just what Newcastle will have to take if he moves!

Ronaldo won't go back to Manchester, yet.

Ba meeting with Chelsea reps regarding a move there. Would be £7m due to release clause.

actually it's very possible that he might just stay.....we could all just be blowing steam for nothing...

on the other hand, couldn't an agreement be met between Madrid and United that doesn't involve the exact amount requirement? The player can have a lot to say when it comes down to these things, specially a player as powerful as Ronaldo...

the article actually mentions that there's suppose to be an accord between Madrid and United that if Ronaldo is up for sale United will have the preference in matching any other club's offer, has to be this summer or summer of 2014....this could all just be BS and falls back to United actually being able to match anything...although you have to think that United allowing any other English club to have Ronaldo would be like a sin for them, don't know if they'd allow that to happen....on the other hand, that's why I asked if a special deal could be made between United and Madrid if Ronaldo wishes to go to United....involving player trade cash money, future considerations etc..???

Absolutely possible. Though I'm not sure Real accepts to sell to United for less seeing how they spent 90+M on him in the first place.

In other news, Debuchy is pretty much a Newcastle player (6M€).
