None of those players would come cheap other than Klose or Holtby if you got him on a free next summer. Even Schurrle and Bender have both have bids well over 20 mil rejected for them already.

Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt confirms that there have been offers to Holtby by english clubs. The article (not Heldt) states Arsenal and Liverpool as possible options.

It also says though that Schalke are optimistic about extending his contract and are in "final" talks according to Heldt.

I, for one, am not optimistic at all.

There could be some truth to this because Podolski and Mert have been amazing with Eisfield and Gnabry looking very solid in their limited action.

I highly doubt that Wenger can (or could) go after players like Gotze, Reus, Gomez, Schweinstieger, or Muller. But players like Huntelaar, Holtby, Höwedes, Bender, Schürrle, and maybe Klose are more reasonable approach.

The dream player I would want Wenger to buy is Hummels.
You can add Bender and Schürrle to the off limits list, neither of the brothers or Schürrle will be sold for cheap anytime soon.

Personally couldn't see Klose going to England either, in his mid 30's and wants to prolong his career as long as possible, something Italy seems to provide, and seems really happy with Lazio and wants to see out his contract with them (ends 2014).

I hope Holtby and Huntelaar (any news on him by the way?) stay at Schalke. Building a really solid squad now and to lose those two would be massive.

No way Huntelaar stays if he gets a good offer from a big team.

Yeah, but who's gunna make that move. Citeh and United have no need for him, Chelsea are going after Falcao, Real and Barca don't need him and Bayern doesn't need him. All that's left are Juve and Clubs no bigger than Schalke.

Juve is a solid club... Not the best but still...

So many clubs are in a financial mess that if you're gunna spend it has to be for a star.

Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen are the clubs he'll choose from.

I still think they get Llorente instead, but I can see Juve shelling out big for a Striker.

I hope not. That one "rumor" said it was for 40 mil euros, seems pretty low.

I for one wish Neymar stays at Santos for a few more years, it's refreshing to see a young superstar play for one team for so long and not succumbing to the European Giants (Real,Barca,ManU etc) It's hilarious that Europe is in such a bad financial state and yet some football teams spend hundreds of millions without hesitation

The Barça rumor was 10 million already paid and then another 40 million IIRC.

As for the young "superstars", the players I saw succumbing to the European "giants" went to the likes of Chelsea and PSG.

I think Neymar looks ready from the little I've seen. I mean wait until at least next Summer, but IMO he could make a move then. Oscar looks good for Chelsea, though of course it is the PL. Anyway, Neymar could move and be fine or stay and be fine. There is the WC to consider, but at the very least he should move Summer of 2014.

I can't say too much about the other leagues, but far most in Germany are, which is a result of the rather strict licensing regulations to be allowed to play in the top two leagues, and not allowing more than 49 percent of ownership of a club for big sugar daddies (who can really drive a club into the ground once they decide to take their money elsewhere).

-Apparently Santos turned down the latest offer from Barca. Chelsea, PSG and Man City are ready to make a good run in January. Chelsea will likely make a push for Falcao first and if that fails Neymar could be their #1 target. Oscar has already urged Neymar to join him in London. Meanwhile, Mancini has urged City officials to do everything they can to land the Brazilian. Leonardo has apparently met with the Santos manager as well to discuss a summer move for Neymar. You can also bet that Real Madrid will be heavily involved.

-On another note, Real Madrid has made another offer for Halilovic.

As much as Newcastle supporters loathe Mike Ashley, the club is technically in 0 debt. I say technically because Ashley paid all the club debt off with his own money but it is an interest-free loan to himself. The club owes Mike Ashley money (which probably explains the lack of transfer spending from Carroll's £35M sale) so it will only come back as an issue when it is up for sale.

Arsenal is in tremendous shape financially and other than that Im not sure of how English clubs are doing but plenty of them are in debt.

Only can see City getting on Neymar and I doubt it happens.
Neymar will go to Barça, book it, for 50-65 M€

Most German clubs. If FFP is legit the Germans will be well ahead of most of Europe. In fact Hoeness made a bid deal out of this earlier in the year, particularly about the debt in La Liga.

In Italy only a few clubs: Napoli and Udinese come to mind, Udinese mostly because of their constant selling of players. They will never spend big for a player and have a fantastic global scouting system.

There are also clubs like Swansea who are in a good financial state but they won't overspend to their credit. I think they are completely debt free. Most EPL clubs are in debt though

I agree. It definitely helps that Neymar really wants to play alongside Messi.

So basically once the FFP comes into play, NewCastle and Arsenal will he the best in the EPL because they will be able to buy players while everyone else has to sell or face not playing in the CL ?

No. FFP is a joke. It's based on total revenue and profit. So if City buys up bonds, land, grocery stores, you name it, they can show a profit and therefore avoid the non punishments.

Most EPL sides can show at least a balance sheet that has them even if it meant staying in Europe. If the big clubs were ever in doubt they would breakaway from the CL

So basically the big clubs have no incentive to clear their debts ?

No, there's no real teeth in the punishment or enforcement. They can cook the books or get a shoddy endorsement package like City has.

There's hope in FFP, but in reality it's a wish
