It's pretty much the same as in hockey, players are typically at their physical best around 20 but they are inexperienced so as they gain experience but maintain near top physical condition they get better, so you consider 26-30 the prime more or less, post 30 the physical decline outweighs the gained experience.

But just as in hockey there is the theory that guys who start playing regular top level competition at a very young age, 17/18, peak earlier and decline earlier than others.

Also maturity. When players settle in with their wives, and start building a family, players just seem to hit the peak of their career. Not saying that Raheem Sterling has hit the peak of his career at 18 years old, but you get what I mean

Lol, I do.

I just figured that they declined earlier because a lot of players retired in their early 30's.

Also, I don't understand why we're comparing Götze and Neymar. Apart from being in the same age group and not being defensive players, there isn't too many similarities, judging by the admittedly little I have seen from the latter. But based on that, positionally, it would be simply logical for Neymar to be the better finisher. It would be a problem if he wasn't.
That's all true.
The comparison was made because of their age (I added Hazard BTW), but I simply reacted when someone said Neymar is better only in the running part of the game. Of course that's not true. Neymar is a better finisher, it's pretty obvious, but as you said, he's more of a striker playing wide than a creator like Gotze.

That's not really true because most football players are married very young and are parents very young.

Ah, I see. And I'm relieved to not find out I had an entirely distorted picture of Neymar's game in my head.

It looks like the negotiations for Feghouli's extension at Valencia are stalling

He was almost sold to Zenit this summer, so I'd think they'd be the leaders.

No, he has a son who was born in August of 2011, meaning he became a father at the age of 19, but he doesn't have a relationship with the child's mother.

Zenit is an option, just like BA said. But I think he ends up in Italy with Juve or AC Milan.

With the mutiny that the Witsel and Hulk signings inspired can't see them going after Nani this coming break.

If you had to give me a number, what do you guys say the chances of falcao to chelsea are?

Would Huntelaar also be a possibility?

Falcao to Chelsea?

Not sure. I think there's a few others who have a say before that's done. I guess 35-40%.

I also think that Schalke are nuts to let him go for nothing.

Holtby? I'm all over it.
How so? We're not getting much for him in winter. Schalke are an ambitious club you know.

With Huntelaar, we make the Champions league. With pukki and Marica, much less likely.

With Huntelaar, we might make the CL quarterfinal. With Pukki and Marica, much less likely.

Playing CL next year not only outweighs the money selling Huntelaar would get us now, it also important to attract players.

Not to mention there's still a chance that Huntelaar extends his contract.

I thought Nani was the one that said no to Zenit. Nani to Juve would be incredibly badass.

And aren't Schalke in the top 10 of rich clubs in Europe (or maybe I heard wrong and it's Germany)

Aren't they sponsored by Gazprom? Or is that just for their Kit? That could bring in lots of money for em.

Schalke have enormous debt and though they get money in from Gazprom it's not like Gazprom is just pouring amazing amounts of funds into the club. Some past financial decisions weren't so good either.

I think Schalke keeping Huntelaar makes sense though, the drop-off from Huntelaar to the guys behind him is too steep. They'd have to reinvest the sum in the same window to get another forward. Maybe if a promising one who isn't notably worse than Huntelaar, affordable and can be signed to a longer term deal is available in the winter you'd do it. But how many of those are around?

They can't sell Huntelaar, sign a guy out of the 2.Liga or the Danish league and expect to get 2nd or 3rd place.

No, I meant letting him go in Winter. Letting him go for 6 million is basically nothing, and would damage there season.

My fault for not clarifying.
