Did he increase the cap hit Marchand would have signed for?

The penalty wasn't a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The penalty was a third which I believe is more than fair.

Marchand was not a UFA, he was a RFA. If you go to compensation on the GM menu it lists what all the compensations are for each range of money that you use to purchase. Marchand, if I'm remembering correctly was signed for $5.5 mil. If you go into the compensations option, that should fall into the category of compensation of a 1st and 2nd round pick.

Yes, Marchand belongs to you because Boston was alright with the compensation that Marchand costed you.

Lucic and a 7th back to BOS
7th back and all other punishment picks given back to PHI

Marchand to PHI, BOS keeps compensation.

Let's not ruin opel and any other potential Flyers GM because of a easy-to-fix mistake.

Was he RFA though? I guess it depends if he qualified him... if not he became a UFA.

Waivers are going to be off and we're using that quasi honour system correct?

I only ask because I don't want to have to wait another sim period to be able to resign my guys because I'm waiting one for Scott Gomez to clear (which I can only assume he will).

He didn't qualify him, but it was because of confusion over when we were advancing. He thought he had another advance period to get it in, then we advanced too fast. The moral of the story is probably to qualify your RFAs BEFORE offering the deals, but you learn.

I think the RFA compensation and a 3rd is fair. I don't think he should be penalized an extra 1st for that though. Keep in mind this is from his arch-rival in Pittsburgh and all I want to happen to him is bad things

Normally I wouldn't do this and publicly call someone out... but Philly don't waste my time with garbage proposals...

"Max Talbot for Paajarvi"

Thank you.

In other news...

The Edmonton Oilers are proud to welcome 3 new additions to the roster for the upcoming season!

Manny Malhotra, Chad LaRose, and Thomas Greiss

These fill GAPING holes in the Oilers bottom 6 and has really solidified the team and added the much needed depth GM Tambellini was looking for...

Tambo expects all three players to crack the Oilers roster coming out of training camp. "Manny and Chad are going to be key pieces on the penalty kill, which really caused us a lot of damage last year", Tambellini commented. "The fact that we have Manny, who can win a draw whenever we call his name gives the team a huge confidence boost when they begin a PK. Chad is another asset who can play in any situation seeing how every one of his ratings exceeds 80 (except face offs). This allows the team to move Lander and Belanger into more of a supportive role and this past season goes to show how important depth can be. Greiss will be backing up Duby for the year and that's a given."

Oiler Country can't wait to get the year going.

To me it seems like its simple. Did Philly offer Marchand more than his asking price aka jacking up his cap hit, or did he offer the price Boston would have had to pay anyways?

If he offered Marchand's asking price or less this is close to the price Boston would have had to pay Marchand themself anyways as home town discount and the ability to low ball UFAs disappear when July 1st hits. If this is the case Boston should only have to return Marchand and pay the 3rd as a fine.

If Philly offered more than Marchand was asking for then he hurt his value, and should perhaps have to pay more to compensate for Marchands value being hurt, perhaps a second rounder or first rounder in 2014 if he raised his cap hit by less than 1M. To me tho he shouldn't be forced to trade for Marchand.

Just my opinion anyways.

It doesn't seem that far off based on the RNH and Eberle trades

Got Vermette who can skate at 90 and win face offs at 85
Korpikoski who can skate at 88 and is very well balanced at every other rating.

In exchange for Eberle... a good player in his own right, but a guy who never becomes very fast (to my understanding) and is somewhat redundant on my team with Hemsky, Hall, Voracek, and Paajarvi.

I couldn't be happier with my return tbh haha.

marchand is mine i just pay compensation. its lucic now that is the problem. but either way he gets my 1st 2nd 3rd and lucic returned i keep marchand thats how it shall work.
