Fleury
Jeffrey
2014 PIT 2nd round pick

Howard
Tatar
2014 DET 3rd round pick

In a blockbuster move the Penguins have traded stuggling goalie Marc-Andre Fleury to the Detroit Red Wings, for Jimmy Howard, Tomas Tatar, and a 3rd round pick.

"It was tough trading Fleury, and I know this won't go over well in the locker room as he was a well liked guy, and I know this won't go over well with the fans because he was a fan favorite. But this season has been a total disaster. We felt that a change in net was needed and Marc-Andre is no longer the guy here in Pittsburgh. It is tough saying goodbye to the #1 overall pick of this team 10 years ago, but we have to do what is best for the team and shipping him out for the guy that got his team to the Stanley Cup finals last year is what is best for the team. Jimmy is a proven guy having gotten his team to the finals last year, but he will have competition here in Pittsburgh with Vokoun being his main competition. Tomas Tatar was a guy that really interested us here in Pittsburgh, he is a versatile player and we feel that he could be a solid top 6 or even top 3 fix here for the next decade. We feel like we are bringing in a new identity for this team with a solid core of young players, while remaining competitive. It may be a sad day for Penguins fans with Fleury departing, but I assure them the future is bright here in Pittsburgh."

Fluery sucks in this game. Detroit just got easier to beat.

If he goes back to playing the way he did for me at the end of last season and the playoffs then you guys will have a much harder time scoring, if he continues to play like this then Detroit did get easier to beat.

Rumour has showing off Faksa on their 2nd line... may be showcasing him for potential blockbuster trade. More to come.

No Chirping, i've been using Fleury since NHL 11 in HUT and he's always been massively underrated in this game. High overall and a notorious name give him a big price tag but he's usually very easy to beat.

Sounds a lot like real life. I have never, and will never, be a big fan of MAF. Having said that, Howard is nothing special either.

Eklund: Habs are definitely NOT going to pick up an OFD and perhaps a young sniper with potential by the deadline E4

Me being a penguins fan in real life.. that trade hurts

IMO
Fleury > Howard
Jeffery = Tatar (I dont know much about Tatar though)
Pit 2nd > Det 3rd

Didn't Howard have a top 3 SV% last season? Why did you want Fluery so bad?

Being a huge penguins fan in real life this trade hurt me doing it. But Tatar is the big piece in this deal, just like Toffoli was the big piece for me in my Neal deal (that rhymes). I gave Fleury as many chances as I could but he blew each one and change was needed. Also Tatar>>>>>Jeffery.

Tatar is a beast in this game, IMO. His potential makes him pretty valuable. He was obviously key to the deal. Fleury and Howard are obviously interchangeable.
