TRADE RULES:

-No trade can involve more than 4 Roster Players (combined from both teams)
-No trade can involve more than 6 total pieces (combined from both teams)

-GMs are allowed Two Trades Per Season. The specific Injury, Offseason, Regular Season, and Deadline moves have all been removed. Yes, even the Injury Trade. These two trades can be used at any time from Day 1 of the Offseason until the Trade Deadline.

This is the rule that both directly and indirectly separates this league from the rest. Trades are supposed to be a big deal. A trade is the literal removal of assets from your team in place of other assets in order to make the team better. Its not something that real GMs take lightly. The success of their team and their jobs depend on how well their decisions pan out. One of the major reasons so many other leagues unfortunately dont work out is because people get so excited about making trades that they forget their team needs, how close their team is to a cup, how these deals will impact their present and future. This isn't the case in The Bluth Company because of the above mentioned rules. GMs will have had two seasons to shape their team, to manage their cap, and plan for a Cup run or Rebuild.
Trade Rules Updated/Changed. Shortened version...

-Injury Trade Removed, no exceptions
-2 trades per season, can be used at any time from the Offseason to the Deadline
-Still follows the 4 roster players, 6 total pieces rule

Just to let everyone know, are not happy with their skill at forward, especially right handers. I am ecstatic with what I've built the defence into, and my two way forwards...but will be looking to pick up a star sniping right winger in the offseason.

Will move one of Plekanec or Eller to get said RW.

Simmonds is pretty much fitting that description and I personally wouldn't dream of moving him for those scrubs!

Lol oh ****, a bit of rivalry developing between Philly and Columbus. Nice to see some inter-conference rivalries too!

Husselius and Umberger are WAY underrated by everyone on here. They are both vet players who can put up 45+ pts a season. Who are highly defensive players. Umberger and Prospal have some of the highest defensive awareness on my team. The only questions on husselius is how long he'll play ive seen him play another 5 years though. Hes a white 4 star. Hes agressive, and he doesnt get knocked off the puck.

Speaking of Simmonds, I have kind of liked my team without him in the lineup, I might consider moving him, would probably be looking to moving him for a similar player (age, overall, potential) in the offseason. Just wouldn't really be looking for wingers on either side, C or Dmen.

Which season would a trade at the deadline count in though?

IMO I think it should count for the upcoming season UNLESS you didn't use one of your 2 trades the previous season.. then it would count for the previous..

but anything after the draft counts against the next season.

If that makes sense.

For example:
Team 1: uses a trade during the season and one at the trade deadline for the 2013-14 season (both of their trades have been used for the 2013-14 season)
Team 2: only uses a trade at the trade deadline (only one of their trades have been used foe the 2013-14 season)

Then comes draft day, and Team 1 & Team 2 want to make a deal.
Team 1's trade counts for their trade for the 2014-15 season
where as
Team 2's trade counts for their trade for the 2013-14 season

I think rolling over trades would be unfair to other GMs. Also might be more complicated for me. Based on the first two seasons of this league, I think it's best to keep things as simple as possible. It's better for me, better for GMs, and better for the league

it's not necessarily rolling over though.. it's only one "day" where the 2 would over lap.

say team 2 in that scenario didn't make a trade at the draft.. after the draft that 2013-14 trade would be forfeited, and if they made a trade the "day" after the draft it would count against the 2014-15 season.

-----------

I think it would make a more exciting draft day.. because 1 a basement team may skip selling at the deadline and instead sell at the draft to see the draft positions to trade up or down.

another example:

Team 1: makes it to the ECF, he did so by making a trade during the season and picking up a good player at the deadline. He used both trades for that season. Now he is in cap trouble and would like to shed some cap at the draft by possibly trading away a good player that a basement team would need.
He makes a deal with Team 2 to shed salary and move up in the draft. This trade counts for the UPCOMING season

Team 2: finish close to the bottom of the standings, and has a top 10 pick. He only used a trade during the season and did not make a deadline move. He may want to re-tool rather than rebuild. He trades down from his Top 10 position and trades for a somewhat big name player with Team 1. This trade counts for the PREVIOUS season

The above is an extreme case senario, but i think it gets the point across.

sorry for the long explanations.. it's the only way I can make it seem less confusing.

This way it guarantees all GMs to have a trade at the Draft, which IMO would make an exciting draft day if everyone was active.

Lol I actually was going to before I even read your post, I wouldn't do that to ya. If one of my Dmen get injured ill be dressing a guy rated 55 overall lol, and that just can't happen. Don't worry though, my guy is a bit of a reach signing.
