This storm was blown way out of porportin by the media in my area. All i heard was how bad it was gonna be. Yeah it blew my neighbors tree down but it was planted in swampy land and dying. It was no worse then any other storm we got around here. It couldn't have been that bad my window was open all night and it didnt knock over a soda can in the window.
All told, it wasn't too bad if you're inland. But the coast got walloped. The flooding from the storm surge was worse than the rain or wind.
L train is still only running from way into Bushwick into Canarsie, so I'm still trapped with the other hipsters. The J could get me out, though.
Anyone have any news on how Keyport fared? That's where my mom is, still haven't heard from her.
Not sure about Keyport, but OFS posted pictures of Belmar,(Wasn't Bradley Beach in there too?) and it didn't look good. Keyport is technically closer to NYC, than Belmar though I'd say right?
Checkin in - Krinkle family is in one piece as is Casa de Krinkle, no power and not gonna have it for a looong time
My parents are in rough shape - their house in Point had 2 to 3 feet of tidal water from the canal/bay in it. Trying to get a gauge on their mood, they're weary. Hoping I can get down there to help out this weekend,
Hope everyone's doing alright, i'll read through this thread later on
NSP keep us posted about your mom, hope everything turns out ok
I still don't have power, but I don't even care because that is nothing compared to what the shore is dealing with, it's so depressing and hard to actually believe seeing that this actually happened in our home state - can't even be put into words how terribly I feel seeing all these people especially the elders tearing up after losing everything of theirs, people losing kids from their arms as the surge came straight at them, the houses landing on rt 35, the trains on the turnpike, just unfathomable stuff
Us jerseyites saw a lot of our childhoods get washed away down the shore from this storm
My mom just got to my place and said that there are a lot of trees down in my backyard and more than any other storm. I'll take it over any damage to my house.
Still no power for me in Hackensack...across the street has power though....jealousy knows no bounds for me right now though...literally see peoples lights on from my bedroom window....
Thats actually not too bed, the memorial benches are still there as are Storino's condos.
The video of Mantoloking today about broke me....the island is now split in friggin half.
Yea it's good to see that those blue condos didn't get too wiped, think maybe the inlet rocks and stuff helped kind of suppress the water surges coming in
Martell's didn't fare well at all, got totally wiped

We'll get through this, Jersey strong
Thank you very kindly.
My childhood home, neighborhood, and everything I grew up doing and visiting on the Barrier Islands is straight-up gone. It's terrible.

Extension cords!
Same. Most of my life (Until i was 17) was in NJ and now a lot of it is like... gone the beaches islands boardwalks, towns, homes.
I hope you and everyone you know there is okay.
Ranger fan yes but I am a New Jersey guy
Ocean County is a friggen mess. Most traffic lights are out in the bigger towns and its just a crazy free for all. Trees down all over the place. Boats on the train tracks going across the inlet between Point and Brielle/Manasquan. It feels so surreal. Still don't have power but I'm alive and have a home so I can't complain. It must be like a war zone on the barrier islands.
