Still without power at my house in East Brunswick. They said Nov. 9th which is still a while away. I don't really care about the power at this point, just need some heat especially with this nor easter coming soon. Hope all of you are well.

Anyway, let me stop there because Politics should not be brought up at a time like this(but I had to say my piece on this one)
I refuse to be baited into discussing this any further. What I already said was it.

i feel the same way. i honestly don't really care i don't have power, heat would be nice, but we've been ok so far. i am worried about that storm. if belmar gets any more water in it it's going to flood again. the water table is still really high. thankfully the lakes in town are finally down to more normal conditions. things are still bad though.

and last night a house caught fire because they restored power to it the day after it was finally not underwater. i have a feeling that is going to put a damper on power restorations in belmar.

The people here with the partisan Republican comments are wrong

AND

The people here with the partisan Democrat comments are wrong

Barack Obama and Chris Christie BOTH used each other for political gain in this situation (i.e. I'm right and everyone commenting previous is wrong).

and if neither of them made an attempt to visit any of the disaster sites, there'd be the usual rabblerabble that neither of them stepped up as a leader in a time of need.

sometimes we really just need to let go of the politics for a few minutes here and there, because we're going to be in a constant state of annoyance and paranoia if we don't.

it's to be expected that the President and Governor would be made publicly available at a time like this.

Complete nonsense. If Christie is an Obama supporter, why has he said that he is still voting for Romney? If he's an Obama supporter, why did he give the keynote speech at the Republican convention and then campaign for Romney? He didn't allow Romney to come to the state because that would be purely an exploitative photo op, and he has no time for that when lives are on the line. Romney has no power to send aid to the state or to declare the state a disaster area. Christie brought in the man who does, regardless of politics, and he should be commended for that instead of being branded a traitor to his party.

Obama did something positive for the state in a time of crisis and Christie said he appreciated it, simple as that. The people who call Obama a do nothing President are surprisingly unhappy when he actually does do something.

I am a major cynic about politicians and their photo ops and story manipulation and spin, but I think it's ridiculous to believe that Obama came to NJ for pure optics, and even more ridiculous to accuse Christie of collaborating with him on it because he secretly supports Obama.

In an interview with Justin Louis of WOBM radio, Mike, who still seemed amazed by his ordeal, shared the story behind his frantic note.

He said he was at his home in the Green Island community of Toms River when his kitchen was swept away, so he walked out of his house and was swept up in the current. He said he was pulled a half-mile into the bay and then spent about four hours trying to swim back home.

"Well, the current took me to somewhere, which I didn't even know where I was, and it threw me back into the bay. And I tried to swim back to my house for some reason," Mike said. "You know, sometimes you don't think."

He said he ended up across the bay at "some lady's house."

"She had towels on the couch. I just wrapped my body with the towels. ... I was so thirsty because I drank so much salt water. I didn't think I was gonna make it."

No matter what, Christie probably meant what he said, so what does it matter? Republican presidents have not exactly held FEMA in high regard, W put his campaign manager as head of it, then he put Michael "heckuva job" Brown in charge, and we all know how that went. Since the nine most horrifying words are 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help." according to RR...well, that's what FEMA is doing. While I absolutely believe that local officials are in a position to know what should be done, there is this little nagging detail that if your state just had a storm that kind of wiped it out, the state might be a tad hindered by that.

Not that it matters to some here who still have no power as of yet but it seems that as far as gas goes, everything is getting back to normal. I don't see the long-azz lines of chaos like there was the past several days. At least around my neighborhood anyway...

Oh and as for my "Political comment"? I've said what I said because I believe what I said. You disagree with it? Fine. Still doesn't change my view on it.

That is all.
