But valves can fail.

We just had the lights flicker here.

Oh I guarantee there will be basement backups all over the place. Worse will be the sewer outflows right into the rivers and other waterways that are what has caused the EPA to issue so many consent decrees with our old infrastructured nation.

One nice thing about my gf's place (where I am) is that she's 1/4 mile from the local Fire Department. So even if we do lose power, we're the first people to get it back.

This actually is beneficial to my latest quitting attempt. Pretty hard to smoke when gale force winds keep killing your cherry.

Hell, it takes me like two whole minutes just to get the damn thing lit when there's just a breeze.

I use matches to light my smokes.

In these conditions, its comparable to storming Normandy. Virtually impossible.

Don't get me started on matches.

If there's any hint of wind, I get it on my second try on a good day.

I'm really tempted to light one up and stand outside with a stoic face against the storm now.

In Middletown/Red Bank.

Lost power around 3:20 for 4 minutes. Hoping the power holds strong but it sounds like the beast is starting now.

Yeah a tree on Red Hill road fell and took out a line, saw it on FB earlier.

We were out for about 10 minutes I guess while they rerouted. The trees in Poricy Pond park are taking a pounding but holding strong - the wind has been consistent for about 3 or 4 hours now, hopefully it doesn't get any worse

We were out for like a minute or less. But I read that by 5pm half a million were out.

Tense situation here. People losing power a few neighborhoods over and my bread maker won't be done for another thirty minutes. Desperately hoping it makes it.

Bergen County here. Winds are getting malicious.

I can hear transformers around the neighborhood blowing up. Sound like artillery shells.

No. More dubstep is never the answer. Any is iffy, but more is definitely the wrong way to go.

Forgot what time it was (although I know I posted about it a page or two ago), but I had the same situation on a brief outage. Also sounding like its really picking up now, but I'm up in the Livingston/West Orange/15ish minutes from Newark region.
