Isn't Minnesota great. Yesterday I wore shorts, and tonight I go to sleep with snow on the ground and the temp about 8 degrees windchill.

Finland has been cold, grey and windy for a month now yet no snow apart from a couple of occasions.

Meanwhile, runny nose was joined yesterday by slight fever and a possible ear infection. My left ear hurt like hell but after sleeping for a day, I now have an irritating, painful cough and a possible bronchitis. Breathing is difficult sometimes, too, but it's nothing to worry about.

The ear pain was strange though. Felt like a ton of pressure or water in my ear, yet it wouldn't go away. I had to take two NSAIDs (50mg each) and they only helped a little. However, today the pain is completely gone and the pressure seems to be gone as well. I have no idea what happened but I guess sleeping was a good thing.

God damn it. Had to call the police. Effin' domestic disturbance outside my apartment (like literally outside my apartment). Husband and wife screaming at each other. Guy tells wife not to leave. Daughter does too. She just leaves a few minutes later. And then I hear a bunch of banging above my apartment.

Go see a doctor. And yeah, this weather is extremely depressing. I need couple of -C's and some snow so they'll start freezing the outdoor rinks.

Naw, no need for a doctor. Thought about it yesterday when my ear was hurting, decided it's not necessary.

I'm waiting for the -C's as well so I can grab a pair of skates from some flea market and start skating. Been promising myself to do that since last autumn though. I'm probably the procrastinating kind.

I wasn't about to venture out to the stores this morning. I went out last night to see how it was. Wow.

Hmmm...looks like I should browse something other than HF then.

Man, drove by Walmart last night. Parking lot was full. People were waiting to park, line of traffic was all the way out to the freeway. Ridiculous.

Heck yea. And my neighbor is using a chain saw to cut up the tree that fell down in his backyard 5 months ago. Started at 8 am. I get up at 7, but still. That is ridiculous. I wanted a peaceful morning.

woke up to a burst pipe. water line to the spigot on one side of my house seems to have split sometime between 2am and 6am.

good thing; shut off valve at the base of the line clearly labeled (by me, ten years ago)
bad thing; the room that is basically soaked was where I was storing a metric crap ton of books... all of which are soaked.

so...
drywall, soaked.
ceiling, soaked.
books, soaked.
chair, soaked.
floor, soaked.
brick sub-wall on the outside, soaked.

i am betting that the insulation on that wall is also soaked.

i guess i start the process of an insurance claim. super duper...
