I think a great draft pick is exactly what this team needs. A top prospect who could make an impact right away (which we almost had in Justin Schultz), would be the key to putting the nucks over the top and winning in their so-called window.
Going with Curtis Lazar, great two-way player with a tonne of speed and can manage to play physical with a somewhat smaller frame. Plus, his scoring touch is top notch.
I take Drouin here. Actually would have taken Drouin over Barkov.
Why? I know Drouin is really good but I mean look at their team. Wouldn't you say he's a bit of a bi-product? I understand he's a high talent. But stick him in the finish men's league and I don't think he holds a candle to Barkof. I'd take Barkov over Jones. It's hard to find generational forward talent in the middle rounds of the draft but history has proven you can find number 1/2 defenseman in the 2-5th rounds.

Who knows how well Barkov's game will play out in the NHL? Hockey in Europe is much different than North America and while what he's doing over there is very very impressive, I would feel a lot more comfortable with Drouin who's actually producing at a higher clip than Nathan MacKinnon.

True. Just the clips I've seen of Barkov has me salivating. Though his footspeed didn't look the greatest.

I agree.

Who knows how Drouin's game will pan out playing against men instead of boys? Hockey in junior is much different than NHL hockey, and while what he is doing down there is very, very impressive, I would feel a lot more comfortable with Barkov who is actually producing at a higher clip than Erik Karlsson, Valteri Filppula, and Kyle Turris, and the same clip as Mikko Koivu.

His skating has improved greatly since the beginning of the season. It took him a little bit of time to get that speed back after adding so much bulk to his 6'3 frame in the offseason.
While I picked Barkov over Drouin, it's certainly not like Drouin is simply leeching off Mackinnon. Drouin has sick hands and vision, and I think he deserves to be a top-5 pick(which says something, in this draft)
