I watched the second and third period and Kassian had a strong game. He generated a lot of chances and was unlucky to not have a goal and an assist.

Got a bit fancy on that last chance, probably should've just shot it as Schroeder sprung him down the middle.
His rep with Buffalo was the same, great when he's on but effort drops after a while. Just needs some consistency.

Edit: he seems to have done a great job screening tonight. was it 3 goals from his screens?

Does Kassian not get an assist on the Matheson goal?

I've seen a small sample size of Jensen, but Jensen is really the only other prospect to challenge Schroeder skill-wise, with Kassian third.

Yeah JS's goal was nice. Beautiful spin move, and in the slot to boot.

Pretty sure he provided a screen only on the Schroeder goal. On the Matheson one he was on the half wall — on that one it was Schroeder and Gordon screening. And I'm not sure which you thought was the third (2 Sterling goals, he's not on that line and he's not on the same PP unit as Gordon either)? But I could be wrong, just my recollection of it.

Anyone know if there is any TV Coverage on the game playing right now?
I'm over in the UK so listening to it on AHL Live but not been able to find any way of watching it

Nice shot by Tatar .. but Lack down way too early. The one great strength Lack was challenging and getting back quick to cover up down low. Now Melanson has him right back in the net and not really challenging. Lack's backside is firmly in the back of the net. Can Melanson screw up another goalie. Maybe so.

You said Lack started getting away from what Melanson was teaching last year and was doing better after that? Why would he go back to it now?

Hard to say .. but right now Lack is playing continually on his knees - just sliding back and forth across the crease. Puck is in the Wolves zone - Lack is immediately in a butterfly on the goal line. This is the type of way Melanson played. So called high percentage goal tending. Trouble is that a more athletic goalies doesn't have to play in such a passive style. Melanson had Price playing this way and was ruining him before Montreal wised up and canned Melanson. After Melanson left, Price went back to the style he was successful with and blossomed. Much of the trouble with Loungo has, IMO, come from Melanson trying to make Luongo play like Melanson did. Took maybe the best goalie in hockey and did more to screw him up than help him. Seems like now Luongo just ignores Melanson.

In the end Melanson has this cookie cutter approach and makes every goalie play the way he did. (down on the goal line and just hoping the puck hits you) He doesn't adapt an approach that builds on the goalies natural strengths. Lack is going down hill and just hope Melanson can't do really permanent damage.

I've heard and seen Melanson in action and believe he is no brain surgeon

Another miserable period on the PP for the Wolves. Ebbett was horrible and Schroeder disappointing.

Noted that Tanev got slammed into the boards without and retailiation. When is this organization going to start protecting their younger players.

Agree with your post 100 percent, its what he did with luongo and it ruined him and if hes doing that with lack now, we need to make some noise as fans in order to help get rid of this guy.

Ouch. Grand Rapids score right after the tie up. Even the commentators are talking about how deep Lack is playing. Wtf, Melanson?!

Schneider doesn't seem to struggle under Melanson, neither did Halak...

Did you watch the games? It was extremely clear when he changed his game up to the deep and low style and he was NOT playing well, he only started to get back on track when he went back to how he played before. Which didn't happen that quick

Not even sure how that can be debated
