So the tyrannical dictator Melanson worked with Luongo for a full season, Luongo's best, and then ruined him? What happened the first year? Was he just too lazy to do any cookie-cutter ruining?

IMO Lu is better now than he's ever been. He may have decided to meld his old style to the new one, but he's clearly much better with traffic and his backside recovery now that he doesn't charge everything.

I don't think Melanson taught Lui's biggest problem "the forward plunge". He's always had that.

What do you know, another Luongo thread.

Anyways, since it seems it hasn't been mentioned, Wolves play at 5PM on Sportsnet tonight.

Moreover, Woodley saying that they were cooperative doesn't mean there wasn't disagreement. Indeed as the article cited above indicates there had to be some disagreement about how Luongo should play. That's indicated by the statement the club (and Melanson must have been instrumental in this) "gave up on trying to change Luongo". Doesn't that at least suggest frustration.
No. I don't know much clearer he has to be. He's said you've misinterpreted things twice.

I'm done. Its clear you're not interested in discussing this rationally and would rather grasp at conspiracy theories that suit you better.

Does anyone else think Sweatt would be a better fit on the Canucks than Raymond? He is pretty damn fast and is tougher than Raymond. I think he could be a decent 3rd liner. He's good defensively and doesn't fall down or turn the puck over. He makes some smart plays too, even though he doesnt put up many points.

Am I out to lunch?

Yes. He has his good games but the rest of the time it's a total disaster and he barely gets anything done. Raymond would be completely tearing up the AHL right now while being exceptional defensively.

Sweatt looked pretty average in the one game against the Sens last year when he was called up (but it's only one game, obviously can't judge him on that). That was almost a calendar year ago, however, and from what I've seen this year on the Wolves his speed has looked like an asset.

If I recall, he took a penalty, then someone else took a penalty giving the Sens a 5-on-3. Sweatt's penalty ended, he came out of the box, and had a pretty good defensive PK effort for a guy who wasn't expected to be on the PK. Does anyone else remember that game? I might be remembering it wrong.

probably, but he can't tear up the NHL without riding someone's coattails, and he's far to weak to be a 3rd liner. He doesnt fit on the Canucks. Sweatt probably doesnt either but who knows, he looks good everytime I watch the Wolves.

Guessing there might be a lot of activity for the game due to it being on SN. GDT maybe?

Last time Raymond was in the AHL, like 5 years ago or so, he was about a PPG player, and I'd be surprised if Sweatt has enough of a jump on him defensively at the NHL level, if at all, to make this make sense.

Finally a powerplay goal.

Really great puck movement. Awesome pass by Kassian to Hunt.

Hunt from Kassian and Haydar.

Puustinen scores on a turnover in the zone turned broken 2 on 1.

1-1.

Team looks confused in their own zone. Still adapting to system maybe?

Pinizotto stopped on breakaway and Schroeder shoots it right into the goalies glove on the rebound.

Sauve looked awful on that GA. Had several chances to get it out and then loses coverage of his man. Clusterf***.

What a bogus penalty on Schroeder.

So was the one that led to our PP goal, so can't really complain there.

I like this Tanev-Matheson pairing. They compliment each other well.

seriously!

When the ref right next to it doesn't make the call, that's how it should be.
