Add Larionov, for Chelios-like reasons; leadership, work ethics and good stats. I.L was part of three Stanley cup teams with 10+ playoff points in each of these.

That is an excellent point. I always have a tendency to forget how good he was in the playoff before crusing the stats. Plus he has two of the most memorable moments for me in the entire time I have been watching the Wings. He set off the whole brawl on March 26th by sticking up for himself against Forsberg, but more importantly I will never forget the following.
Sawchuk. He was the greatest goalie of his generation - it's impossible to compare goalies from different eras but he may have been the best of all time.
Fedorov was immensely talented but this isn't about most talented Red Wings, it's about GREATEST Red Wings. And Sawchuk was a greater player than Fedorov.
Greater than Delvecchio too, who was an excellent player for a long time and a career Wing, but who never led the league in goals, assists, or points. In fact, he never even led his team in points, even after Gordie left.

Sawchuk is the guy here.
Plante was Sawchuk's equal if not better.
I went Fedorov, but it was very close for me between Fedorov and Sawchuk. I just can't overlook how dominant Sergei was; especially his NHL-record four straight 20-point playoffs. Even Gretzky didn't achieve that one.

Agree. When he saw it was Battaglia back...he knew he was good to go. Big goal at that point.
