For looking at turning around the Vikes, would it be a decent plan to try make a move for some former starter turned backup? Would a guy like Kyle Orton be a solid enough throwaway to get us through a couple seasons while we rebuild everything else? Alex Smith would probably be pretty great for a stop-gap for this team, but I imagine that San Fran will get a pretty decent haul for him if they decide to throw all their eggs in the Kaepernick basket.

Great move getting a major league caliber starter as well as a solid prospect for Revere.

Let the Hicks era begin!

Among many abominable numbers, here is perhaps the most eye-popping: Ponder has completed only four passes this season that traveled more than 20 yards in the air, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

I would rather stick with Ponder and let him flop(if that is the case). I am not a fan of us getting a mediocre quarterback to get us 5-6 wins a season and get us a host of mediocre draft picks. If Ponder isn't the answer, let him at least help us rebuild.

Yup. I remember when people thought McNabb would be a pretty good fit, too.

Unless Flacco isn't signed, there really isn't any moves to be done on QB. Personally, get a new QB coach, get Ponder to sit and watch some video. Draft a WR and sign one and pray.

Yeah, with the right coaching he could become a serviceable defender... He and Rubio paired will make a very interesting 1-2.

I hope Shved can play the 2.

What's the deal with Williams? Seriously. Almost seems like he has been benched or something.

Kevin Love nearly plays the entire game ideally. Williams is an undersized 4, and too slow to play the 3.

On top of that he and Adelman don't seem to get along.

I think it's a combination of a bad organizational fit (they knew that drafting him, but it was the only choice for the pick), and the knock on Williams pre-draft appears to be somewhat accurate, in that he doesn't have a real position... a 3/4 Tweener is about the worst combination you can be.

Yep, Williams is a classic Tweener.

Wasn't able to make a case for himself when Love was hurt, certainly isn't going to get much time now.

Well they should move him then, but I can't think of any position of real necessity (of course we can always get better).

Having watched him play a bit now he seems to have some appeal in the upside potential of his abilities.

It so sucks Budd and Roy went down. This team - with arguably the best coach in the NBA at the helm and still Rubio to come back yet - could really be a sleeper to make a run in the postseason, I believe.

T'would be a most magical moment in my life to see this nucleus of players make a Cinderella postseason run to a world championship.

Williams hasn't shown enough to be a meaningful trade piece. Sadly as an asset he's better used as roster filler due to his relatively low salary.

If Williams put together a string of good games off the bench the Wolves could move him... but I don't really see it happening.

The only way Williams will be traded is in a package deal, hence why the Wolves were trying to Trade Pek+Williams for Pau.

I'm guessing Adelman and Williams don't get along, which is why Adelman cuts him zero slack and never plays him. They ought to trade him but he has no value. Another botched draft pick by the Wolves.

It's funny, Kahn has drafted and kept the rights to 10 players in three years, 4 in the top 6, and and 6 in the 1st round. The only one currently starting for a team in North America is Malcolm Lee, last year's 43rd overall pick (that will change later this month when Rubio comes back).

The problem with Williams is that his strengths coming out of college (athleticism, scoring by moving off the ball, making shots) didn't come with him to the NBA. His shot's about as broken as someone who once drained 57% of his threes can be. Too many moving parts, not enough follow through, it's just ugly. He's a two foot jumper, which means he either takes to long to gather himself before he elevates around the rim, or he doesn't go up strong enough and lobs up a softie that swiftly gets returned to sender. I also don't think he's been used in a manner that would play to his strengths, but it's tough to give him the benefit of the doubt when he visibly mailed it in once Rubio went down last year.

I think it has less to do with Adelman not liking Williams than it does with the presence of Love, Kirilenko and Cunningham. Kirilenko and Cunningham in particular are two combo forwards who stand in his way at both of the positions it's an option to play him at. They're also both guys who play a type of game coaches love. Kirilenko's good to great at just about everything, and Cunningham's longer, more athletic, a plus defender and plays with a lot more fire in the belly. He's probably been the biggest surprise amongst the offseason additions the Wolves made. I can't believe Memphis was willing to take Wayne Ellington straight up for him.

Agreed, they've even started him at times this year and they're a 14-3 team.

Right now the Wolves are at an 8 seed. Obviously its early, but with all the people they had injured, that is an incredible start to the season. I don't think there is any way they miss the playoffs, unless everyone gets injured again.

All-Day with a fast start!

Also, it's nice to be on bye in my fantasy playoffs so I don't have to worry about Chicago's D against Minnesota and can just cheer for the Vikings.
