Scratches today. Nugent-Hopkins, Ritchie, Hudon, Huberdeau, Jenner, Strome, Scheifele, Danault, Hamilton, Harrington, Rielly and Ouellet.

RNH won't be in. Makes sense since he's already guaranteed a spot.
I wonder what the lines will be...

Drouin - MacKinnon - Lipon
Catenacci - Shinkaruk - Rattie
Monahan - Graovac - McNeill
Camara - Beuvillier - Wilson

Reinhart - Dumba
Corrado - Wotherspoon
Murphy - Sproul
Pouliot - Pelech

4 goalies..

They still have a lot of defence..

You don't want Rattie on the team based on one intrasquad game?

If he doesn't then whoever makes that decision should be castrated with a rusty sardine can.

Cruel, but necessary punishment.

Any idea on his linemates?
Schifele/Huberdeau?

U of A is currently up on the Juniors 3-1 after 20 minutes. Malcolm Subban gave up 3 goals on the first 7 shots he faced.

I would think Huberdeau for sure, I wonder if Rattie gets some time on the other wing.

Of course.

I was at the Red/White game last night. Huge crowd getting into the facility which has a deplorable parking set up by the way.

RNH was the best player on the rink.

He carried his linemates a few times and at despite some pretty good oppostion checking he had plenty of chances. Could have easily scored on a close in re-direct. On two other rushes he went to the net and "dug out" inaccurate passes and saved the play by getting decent shots off despite the lack of execution from the other end of the play(s).

Personally...I think this is a 19 year old team and short of one of the pups doing something truly exceptional...or...the NHL going back to work...they won't be making this team.

I definatley didn't see anything "excpetional" from any of the 18 year olds. Shinkaruk might or Hudon might have been the best of the younger guys. But they weren't ahead of any 19's in my books.

Still some tough calls on the 'D' to be made. I liked Sproule's raw power.

Those are the 2 linemates Prendergast said they were going to put RNH with.

First, because the NHL is locked out so a number of guy who wouldn't be available (especially up front) and second, it's really hard for a 16 year old to be competitive at the tourney, let alone a 15 year old.

I don't think it's even a thought to have McDavid there yet. He's 3 draft years away. Even though he's an exceptional talent... there's no way to have him in the running at this point. He'd have to be clearly better than other 16,17,18 and 19 years old options to make the team. That's asking a LOT from him as well in terms of pressure and basically isn't something that I think team Canada would want to put on a young player when there are literally scores of other worthy players to choose from.

I think he should.

There wasn't a lot of talented Canadian forwards in the 2012 draft, so I think we'll see a bunch of 2013 draftees on next year's team. I'd say he's on par with(or better than) a bunch of the 2013ers already, so it'd be tough to argue against him.

I am not so sure about your last statement. The kid has a very mature game. He is of course fantastic offensively, but he is also a very well rounded player who knows what to do in his own end and is not at all shy about the physical side of the game.

He is a pretty big kid, at 5'11" and 175lbs at 15. He won't match Tavares' goal total as a 15 year old but he will probably match his point totals. Of course Tavares did not make Team Canada as a 16 year old. Like Tavares, the kid has exceptional hockey sense. He is always where the puck is. But McDavid is a much better skater than Tavares was at the same age. He is also more defensively responsible than any of the recent top dogs I have seen including Tavares.

Of course it is a longshot, but I would not bet against this kid.

Flames don't want to risk not having him for an NHL season. Even one game without could be devastating.

Team Canada (and Prendergast) are once again illustrating that they don't know what they're doing. Frank Corrado and Laurent Brossoit have been cut.

McDavid isn't good enough to be there yet, he's 18th in the OHL in scoring and there are also checking/energy spots on the roster to be filled.

For scoring lines you're looking at the top 2 - 4 guys from the WHL/OHL/QMJHL in a normal year and this year there are also guys coming to camp who wouldn't even be in the CHL anymore.

IMO he's a sure bet to at least attend camp next year if the lockout is over....
